Principal's message

Dear MPS families-

We are almost to the half way point of our first term. Parent/Family Conferences are right around the corner and will be held on Wednesday October 11th, Thursday October 12th, and Friday October 13th. Each classroom teacher will be communicating regarding sign up times. Conferences last approximately 10-15 minutes per family. This time is used as an overview of your students progress so far this year. We thank you in advance for adhering to your start and stop time in order for our staff to stay on schedule and meet with all families.

MPS holds two parties per school year. Our fall party will be held on Tuesday October 24th (please note this is a CHANGE). We always coordinate days and times with MES in order to accommodate families in both buildings. Students are welcome to wear a costume, dress up clothes, or dress as their favorite book character. All students and staff will participate in a fall parade that morning beginning at 9:15am (this is a CHANGE). Visitors can watch the parade outside. The parade will occur rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, the parade will be held inside for staff and students only. If a decision needs to be made about the parade, a Find Out First (FOF) will be sent that morning.

Class party times will be set by each grade level and communicated directly with families. MPS will provide a food item and small bottle of water for the party. We will have an allergy friendly snack but please reach out to your child's teacher if you would like more information on this snack or would like to send an alternative snack.

Our doors open promptly at 8:30am. Many students eat breakfast at school to get their day started. If you are a car rider, we encourage you to drop your student off at school as early as possible to allow the maximum amount of time for preparing for the day.

Please note that effective Thursday September 28, 2023, if you do not have your car rider number tag available at dismissal, you will be asked to park and go to the office to show identification. If you need additional copies of your car rider tag, please call the front office or send a note to your child's teacher.

Transportation tags are no longer needed for our students.

The parking along the curb on the Fire Hall side of the road now has marked parking spaces. This has been done to increase our parking availability for both staff and visitors. Please be sure to park within a spot if you park along the curb.

Health room

FCPS requires all families to complete the Confidential Health Information form. This form is an important communication tool that provides information regarding students' health needs, including life threatening allergies, medical conditions, and medications that may be needed at school.

We sent home this form on a yellow piece of paper. If you have not completed this form, please do so as soon as possible. Our goal is 100% so we can have updated health information on every student.

If you need another copy of the form, please click the link below to access the Confidential Health Information Form. Complete the form, print, and send to school with your student. If you require a paper copy, please contact our front office.

Confidential Health Information Form

Our health room accepts donations of clothes and shoes throughout the school year to have available for students as needed.

Currently, we are in need of the following items:

  • size 4 and 5 shorts, all genders
  • shoes, sizes 13y to child size 2, all genders
  • new underwear, size 4-10, all genders

MPS Artsonia

Good Afternoon Families!

MPS is participating with Artsonia again this year. It has become a great way for parents and relatives to get a glimpse into the art classroom and the hard work our students continue to do on their artwork! We also use the proceeds from Artsonia as a way to further fund the supplies we use in the art classroom! Please use the following link to join and view the beautiful artwork your student has created so far this year!

Please note: if you participated last school year, you will not need to sign up again.

Volunteering at MPS or any FCPS school

We love having volunteers in our building to help in various ways. Teachers determine if and when volunteers are needed and share that information with families. If you will be volunteering or have been asked to volunteer, it is important to note that you must complete the FCPS volunteer training.

Volunteering includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:

  • Working in the school library
  • Hanging art work in the hallways
  • Making copies for teachers in the building
  • Being a mystery reader in a classroom
  • Chaperoning field trips
  • Helping inside the classroom

If you would like to volunteer in any capacity you must first complete the volunteer training using the link below. Please note it can take up to 72 hours for processing. As you plan your volunteer time, be sure to leave enough time for your volunteer status to be updated.

You only need to complete this one time each school year. Volunteers will not be permitted if the training has not been completed and forwarded to MPS. Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to keep student and staff safety as our number one priority.
