Winthrop Families and Caregivers,

As we approach the final days of this amazing school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on our journey together. Today marks the last Friday of the academic year for our students. Serving as the Interim Principal of the Winthrop School this year has been an absolute privilege, a year filled with celebration of numerous successes and embracing valuable teachable moments.

Our staff, students, families, and community members have worked tirelessly to support and uplift one another. As the instructional leader of the Winthrop School, it has been an incredible gift to observe our students' diverse learning experiences and to support them in staying motivated to reach their individual potential. With a long career in K-12 education, I feel extremely fortunate to have been part of such a thriving, positive learning community. My time at Winthrop School here in Ipswich has helped me grow as a leader and it has deepened my appreciation for the immense dedication, passion, and care that defines the Winthrop School community.

On a personal note, when I arrived in early August, my goal was to lead the Winthrop community with intention. I pride myself in putting students first, and having courage to make difficult decisions when necessary. I have focused on prioritizing positive relationships, making meaningful connections, developing trust, and remaining consistently kind and empathetic.

I have strived to create lasting partnerships to move our school forward, I have kept lines of communication open, and I have always put our students first. Coming to work every day for the students is my true joy. The community partnerships we have built together this year have been at the heart of everything I set out to accomplish.

The true pulse of the Winthrop School community comes from our incredible staff. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our teachers, counselors, cafeteria workers, paraprofessionals, RBTs, secretaries, custodians, specialists, and fellow administrators for all of your hard work. The collaboration and care that goes into navigating our daily challenges and successes is inspiring. Learning from mistakes, making every day a fresh start, problem-solving, and striving to get better each day is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Thank you to everyone who has been willing to give grace along the way. Your children are amazing, and I thank you personally for everything you do for them; they are truly a reflection of your efforts and support.

I would be remiss if I did not extend a special note of gratitude to our Assistant Principal, Mr. Aaron Clark. His collaboration, support, and dedication to our families and students have been invaluable. We have truly taken a team approach this year, and we both feel incredibly proud to have helped make Winthrop such a special place. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our entire community.

Please know that I will remain here through June 30, 2026. As I prepare to embark on my own new professional and personal opportunities, my door remains open to you. I am excited to help facilitate a smooth transition for your incoming principal, and I know she is stepping into an extraordinary community.

Thank you for a wonderful school year!

Sincerely,

Dr. Maureen Lueke, Ed.D.

As this school year comes to a close, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our entire Winthrop community and families. Your generosity, time, and continued support have made an incredible impact on our school.

Because of you, our fundraising efforts have helped provide meaningful resources, enriching experiences, and memorable opportunities for our students. Your involvement uplifts not only our children, but also our dedicated teachers and staff who work tirelessly every day.

We are so grateful to be part of such a caring, engaged, and supportive community. The strength of Winthrop shines through in everything we accomplish together.
