🍎 Principal Anselmi's Corner
Pirates,
Next week welcomes a beautiful Fall break and parent/guardian teacher conferences. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about your student. Please follow the directions attached to sign up for a time.
The homeroom teacher should have reached out in regards to a student-led conference. Make sure to sign up for that! A conference planning sheet is attached below to help you keep track of teachers and times.
Don't forget about our first annual Literacy Night where we will provide an abundance of resources on how to support your student reading at home. Our raffle has many books and gift cards to be given away to those who attend!

📝 Recap from Site Council
Our Site Council met to discuss key updates, school goals, and how we can continue to partner with families to support our students and staff. Here are the main highlights from our meeting:
Instructional & School Goals
- Academic Focus: Teachers are aligning classroom assessments directly with grade-level standard rigor to ensure all students learn at grade level or higher.
- Positive Behavior Impact: Staff are prioritizing direct conferencing with students before applying consequences. Thanks to these efforts, office referrals are down 33% compared to this time last year
- Teacher Support & Growth: Staff are participating in "learning walks" to observe peers and using self-reflection video cycles to continuously refine their instruction.
Parent & Community Engagement
- Parent-Teacher Conferences: The council discussed ways to make future conferences even more useful for parents, including better Skyward signup guidance and possible literacy rotation activities during conference times.
- Soft Launching a PTA: The district is beginning to soft-launch PTA groups. Potential focus areas include organizing school events, dances, family activities (like bowling), and teacher appreciation. Keep an eye out for a interest survey soon!
Quick Campus Updates & Q&A
- Principal’s Honor Roll: Honor Roll announcements and celebrations are scheduled for next week.
- Attendance & Student Recognition: Attendance incentives are showing great results in keeping students motivated!
- Morning Drop-Off: Staff are working to streamline traffic flow; extra reflective vests and safety equipment are being ordered for traffic monitors.
- One Crew, One Book: A new reading initiative is launching soon, along with parent book lists coming at Literacy Night.
