Hello Grizzlies!
As you head into your fall break, we want to recognize the hard work and dedication you've shown this first part of the year. This break is your time to recharge and step away from the daily demands of school. Whether you're relaxing with family and friends, exploring a new hobby, or just catching up on sleep, we hope you take this time for yourself. You've earned it. We look forward to welcoming you back refreshed and ready for the next part of the semester.

A+ Program
Meet Days/Times for Novemer
Tuesday, November 11th, at 10:47 a.m.(first part of lunch) in the Student Center
Wednesday, November 12th at 2:20 p.m. in the Student Center.
What is the A+ program all about???? The A+ Program provides scholarship funds to eligible graduates of A+ designated high schools who attend a participating public community college or vocational/technical school, or certain private two-year vocational/technical schools. There are also numerous four-year universities that will offer some scholarship money for students who complete the A+ Program.
A+ trainings will be offered twice a month for students. One training will take place after school and one during the school day. I will email students the date/time each month along with a sign up form. A student does need to be trained prior to beginning to earn their A+ hours. Typically Juniors and Seniors are the students who will be working on their hours. Below are the requirements for the A+ program.
1. Be a U. S. citizen or permanent resident.
2. Enter into a written agreement with high school prior to graduation, by signing the A+ Agreement form, found in the Student Center.
3. Attend an A+ designated high school for two years prior to graduation.
4. Maintain & graduate with a minimum cumulative 2.5 (un-weighted) grade point average.
5. Document 95% annual and cumulative school attendance record.
6. Score “Proficient” or “Advanced” on any Math EOC Exam or earn a 17+ Math ACT or Pre-ACT sub-score.
7. *Junior/Senior year complete 50 hours of supervised tutoring with younger WSD students (12.5 hours of pre-approved “job shadowing” may count towards this requirement).
8. Demonstrate a record of good citizenship during all four (4) years of high school.

MORE SCHOLARSHIPS!!!!!!
My Scholarship Central is a great website to search scholarships that may apply to you. Also, in the Spring, this is where we will also list our local scholarships for our district. For all local scholarships, we require students to complete an application in My Scholarship Central. On this website, it allow students to complete one application and use that application to apply to multiple scholarships. (if additional information is needed for a particular scholarship, it will be stated). My Scholarship Central also lists many other scholarship opportunities over and beyond our local ones. I encourage every student to create a My Scholarship Central application and begin applying for scholarships.
Other Scholarship Websites that are free of charge include:
Take the time to set up a free account and explore scholarships that you may qualify for!
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2026-2027 school year will open on October 1, 2025. Completing the FAFSA is the first and most important step to securing grants, scholarships, and other financial aid to help you pay for college.
Why should you complete the FAFSA?
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an online financial document filled out by students and their families, and submitted to colleges.
The FAFSA takes about 30 minutes to complete.
Unlocks free money: The FAFSA is your gateway to grants and scholarships!!!. The information is used to determine if students will qualify for any grants (free money that does not have to be paid back), work study, student loans, and even some scholarships.
Accesses federal aid: It's the only way to be considered for federal student aid, including Pell Grants, work-study, and federal student loans.
Maximizes your chances: Some state and college aid is first-come, first-served, so completing your FAFSA early is the best way to be eligible for as much aid as possible.
Your next steps:
Create your FSA ID: If you haven't already, both you and a parent (if you are a dependent student) need to create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID. This is your username and password for the application. You can create one at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch. The account can take up to 48 hours to activate.
Gather your documents: Before you start, gather the necessary documents, which include your Social Security number, tax returns from 2024 for the 26-27 school year, and records of any money earned.
Complete the FAFSA: Fill out the form at StudentAid.gov. It's a free application. https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa
