I hope you are having a wonderful week. For our current preschool families, the deadline to submit your completed 2026-27 Pre-K enrollment packets is January 30 at 3:00 p.m. There is a checklist included in your enrollment packet to guide you on the required documentation.

Just a friendly reminder that there will be no school this Monday, January 19, as we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We hope our students and families enjoy the long weekend!

Mid-Year Check-In: Celebrating Your Child’s Growth!

We are currently in our universal mid-year screening window! We use these screenings not as a test, but as a check-in to ensure we are best supporting every child’s unique developmental journey.
Here is what to expect for your child’s age group:

  • Preschool & Pre-K: Students are currently being screened using the Brigance Early Childhood Screen III to check in on their early learning skills.
  • Pre-K Families: You will receive a mid-year parent report on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in your child’s green communication folder.
  • Preschool Families: You will receive your comprehensive parent report at the end of the school year in May.
  • Infants & Toddlers: Teachers are currently completing a Developmental Milestones Checklist for each child. Because you know your child best, we will also provide you with a checklist so you can offer your perspective on your child’s development at home!

If you have any questions about the screening process, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher.

2026-2027 Enrollment

Registration for the 2026-2027 school year has begun. Packets will include a cover letter that will walk you through the documents and fees required for enrollment.

Current 0-2 families:

Teachers will send home registration packets in January. Please note: current residency must be submitted to secure your spot. If you have updated immunizations, please submit the GA 3231 form with your packet.

Current Preschool/Rising Pre-K families:

Teachers will send home registration packets this week. Please note that parents must submit all required documents. Bright from the Start will not allow us to use documents currently on file. Therefore, all documents must be resubmitted. All enrollment documents and fees must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. on January 30.

Current Pre-K/Rising Kindergarten families:

Your Pre-K student will be automatically enrolled in your neighborhood school for Kindergarten. There is nothing families need to do at this time. We encourage you to reach out to your home school if you will need aftercare services for your student to find out about the enrollment process.

Prospective Pre-K families (new to College Heights or new to CSD):

Families, you are our best ambassadors for our school. Do you know of friends or neighbors with a rising Pre-K student? We would love to get to know them! Please let them know that registration begins Monday, February 2 and lasts through Friday, February 27. Click here for more information on the timeline and procedure for Pre-K registration.

Green Team Update

Ms. B reports that College Heights has gathered a whopping 12 pounds of plastic film over approximately six weeks. According to sources on the web, 12 pounds is equivalent to 8,000 feet of plastic film. That's incredible! Students are really engaged with this project. Keep up the excellent work, Green Team!

Library News

Pre-K classes enjoyed the story Doctor Fairytale this week and learned about the elements of fairy tales and why they are so memorable. Pre-K library contracts are going home this week. Please complete these and return to your child's teacher or the library by February 13. If you did not receive it, or you need another copy, click here.

Does your family have a Yoto? We are evaluating the possibility of adding Yoto cards (and possibly players) to our library collection for students and families to check out. If this is something that would be useful to you, please email Leslie Joiner.

Pre-K classes will not meet next week because of the MLK holiday on Monday, and our toddler and preschool classes will resume on Tuesday.
