Counselor's Corner - A Message from Mrs. Burgess

Hello Gator Families!

What a great start we have had! My name is Meredith Burgess and I am delighted to serve for my second year as the school counselor at Hunters Creek. My role is to support students’ social-emotional well-being, personal growth, and academic success.

I work with students in several ways, including:

Individual counseling and short-term support
Small counseling groups
Classroom lessons on friendship, emotions, conflict resolution, growth mindset, and other important skills
Collaboration with families, teachers, and school staff to help students thrive

I am here to help with concerns both big and small. Students may visit me when they are having difficulty managing emotions, making friends, solving problems, adjusting to changes, or feeling successful at school. Families are also welcome to reach out whenever they have questions or concerns.

I am sharing this survey link for parents and students to use when concerns arise with peers or pertaining to student safety.

Title I Information

HCES Safety Drills

Your students practice fire drills each month. We also practice Lock Down drills during the school year. HCES will practice our Great Shake drill on October 15th. Please discuss with your students that drills are important practice and should be taken seriously. We practice the drills and then staff reflect on what we can improve on as a school. Each quarter we practice our Lock Down drill. In March we will practice our severe weather drill. We appreciate your support and understanding that during our drills we cannot allow people into the school and we cannot checkout students during that time. Once we conclude our drill, we will be happy to assist you as quickly as we can.
