Mr. Harper

I want to thank everyone for making the first full week of school a great one. A couple good reminders.

  1. Help students get in the habit of charging Chromebook, and making sure their ID's are in their bag ready to go.
  2. Remember to be patient during drop off and pickup, safety is our priority.
  3. Homework has started to pick up, make sure and check grades and talk about upcoming assignments with your student. (Check Skyward for missing grades and set up alerts.)

Together we will all make this a successful school year.

Medicine

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This is a reminder of our school's policy on student medication.

For the safety of all students, prescription and over-the-counter medications are not permitted to be carried by students or stored in their backpacks unless they have been approved by the school nurse.

Any medication found on a student or in their backpack that has not been approved by the school nurse will result in disciplinary consequences. Additionally, depending on the type of medication, this can lead to serious legal repercussions.

For example, a student found with unapproved medication, such as an ADD-type medication, could face disciplinary action. This policy is in place to protect your child and all members of our school community.

If your child requires medication during school hours, please contact the school nurse to make arrangements.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school a safe environment for everyone

Library News

Individual Student Library Records Email Notifications

In accordance with new requirements established through Texas Senate Bill 13, parents/guardians will be provided a record each time their student checks out a library material. Parents/guardians listed in Family 1 in Skyward will receive an email notification at 5:00 pm on each day the student checks out a book from the campus library. The notification contains the student name, the title of the books, the author, the ISBN, and the due date.

Parents/guardians have the option of unsubscribing to the notifications if they wish. The unsubscribe link is found within the email notification. For more information, parents/guardians should contact their campus librarian.

New: Destiny Library Parent Access Account

Allen ISD has launched a new feature in the Destiny Library Management System for enhanced parental involvement, the Destiny Library Parent Access Account. Through this account, parents have the ability to search for book titles accessible to their student, view their student’s current book check outs, view their student’s checkout history, and block access to book titles for their student. Directions for the Destiny Library Parent Access Account can be found on the District Library Media Services webpage as well as at the following link:

Officer Chris Johnson

Dear Parents and Guardians,

School is back in full swing, and that means our streets are once again buzzing with buses, bicycles, backpacks, big smiles and nervous faces. As your School Resource Officer, my job isn’t just about keeping the school safe inside the building. It’s also about helping keep our kids safe on the way to and from school.

Think of it this way. When you’re driving near a school, pretend every child you see is your child. You would want to slow down, right? That’s the kind of extra caution we’re asking for in school zones.

A few quick reminders to help us survive and thrive this school year:

· Slow down and smile. The Posted speed limit isn’t a suggestion, it’s the law.

· Eyes up and phones down. That text, phone call or TikTok video can wait until you exit the school zone.

· Stick to drop-off and pick-up areas. Please do not use Tatum Dr. as a drop-off or pick-up area. I know it may take a few extra minutes, but it keeps our kids safe.

· Crosswalks aren’t optional parking spaces or VIP waiting zones. It’s hard to walk across the crosswalk if there’s a vehicle blocking it. If you need more time for your child to gather their things, there are plenty of parking spaces for you to use. This keeps the traffic flowing smoothly.

· Patience is key. Honking at the car in front of you won’t magically make the line move faster. It only makes everyone’s blood pressure rise.

Thank you for your cooperation and being partners in safety. If you or your child ever need assistance, I can be reached at chris.johnson@allenisd.org. If it’s an emergency during school hours, have your child come by the SRO office. My door is always open.

Stay Safe,

Officer Chris Johnson

Attendance notes

If your student is absent, please do one of the following:

  • Log into Skyward, click on the “attendance tab” then click on “submit an absence request” and submit the note. This is our preferred method for documenting an absence.
  • You can email the note, with attachments as needed, to william.lazarus@allenisd.org.
  • Have your student bring a note to school on their return.
  • Call Ereckson at 972-747-3308 and ask for the attendance clerk to report an absence.

You need to document the absence within 3 days of the return to school or the absence will be unexcused.

Absence notes need to be submitted for partial/full days.

The Student Handbook, found HERE, has more information regarding absences.

Husky Huddle

Hello Husky Families! We hope that you and your student are beginning to settle into the new school routine. We know that middle school can have its challenges, and we want to support you and your student. If you notice that your child is struggling socially, emotionally, or having a hard time adjusting to all things middle school, please reach out to their counselor. Counselor emails are on the front page of the Ereckson website. You can also call the school and ask to be transferred to your student's counselor.

Schedule changes: We have been working hard to meet the many schedule change requests that were submitted, and we thank you for your patience. Currently, the window to make schedule changes has closed. Students will have an opportunity to change their core class levels to advanced or on level at the six-week mark. Announcements will be made closer to that time.

Guidance: Our lesson for August will focus on the topic of Mental Health. Students will review the definition of mental health, learn how their brain is growing and changing and identify and practice coping strategies they can use when life presents challenges.

Character Trait: Each quarter, students engage in lessons and activities based on a specific character trait in their homeroom class. This quarter, the trait is Effective Communication. We hope students take what they learn and apply it in their communication at home, school and in the community.

Counselors are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead! Do not hesitate to contact your student's counselor if ever a need arises!

Special Notes!

As exciting as the new school year can be for many, for some it is a time of anxiety and worry. Here are seven ways to help kids and teens start the school year off right and build habits that foster strong mental health.

Raising Eagles

A new school year brings new opportunities for growth—not just for students, but for families too. Raising Eagles is here to help parents and caregivers feel informed, empowered, and connected as they navigate the journey of raising resilient, thriving children.

This year’s lineup includes a mix of noon and 5:30 PM sessions to better accommodate the busy schedules of our families. Together, we’ll explore topics such as digital literacy, parenting strategies, mental health, academic support, and more—all with the goal of strengthening family connections and supporting student success.

Our theme this year is “The Digital Dilemma: Are Screens Shaping Our Children’s Future?” Together, we’ll pause, reflect, and plan how to guide our children toward purposeful, balanced growth in a tech-driven world.
