TOP STORY: Holiday Concerts Ahead
Our Music Department and our student-musicians have been rehearsing for weeks to help get the community in the holiday spirit! Please join them for one — or all — of the following special musical events next week:
- H-F Winter Jazz Concert — Wednesday, Dec. 14, 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center
- H-F Winter Orchestra Concert — Thursday, Dec. 15, 7 p.m. in the Mall Auditorium
- H-F Winter Band Concert — Sunday, Dec. 18, 2 p.m. in the Mall Auditorium
- H-F Winter Choir Concert — Sunday, Dec. 18, 6 p.m. in the Mall Auditorium
You can help make the concerts even more festive by purchasing a poinsettia plant for the Music Department's Annual Poinsettia Fundraiser. Each year more than 100 of the red-and-green plants adorn the stage in the Mall Auditorium for the concerts (see photo above). Plants purchased through the fundraiser are then available to pick up immediately following the end of the Choir concert on Dec. 18. Plants are $20 each and available through 8to18 on this webpage (look for Music Department Poinsettias under "Activity"). Thank you for your support!

Dance Buddies 2022
Next week the H-F Dance Team will host its annual Dance Buddies event! This event is open to all youth — boys and girls — ages 4 -14. No dance experience is required. Registration is now open on the 8to18 website, and we will be accepting sign-ups in person on the day of the clinic. The cost is $35/student, which includes a t-shirt and snacks on the day of the clinic and the game. The Performance Clinic will be held Monday, Dec. 12, from 3:30-7 p.m. in the North Building Dance Studio. This is when each participant will learn the halftime routine that they will perform at the 6:30 p.m. Varsity Boys' Basketball game vs. Stagg on Wednesday, Dec. 14, in the South Gym. Go, Vikings!
Sign up now for SAT Test Prep
Registration is now open for ExcelEdge SAT Test Prep for juniors! The SAT is still important for college planning, as it is used not only for college admissions, but also for placement and scholarships. H-F juniors will take the SAT on April 12 during the school day. To help them prepare for the test, H-F has invited ExcelEdge to offer its program, SAT 1600, here at school. The program will be offered in-person by experienced instructors who are certified content specialists to teach point-producing offensive and defensive strategies on how to navigate difficult items on the SAT. Register now for one of two available sessions:
- Tuesdays from Jan. 31-March 14 at 6:30-8:30 p.m.
- Saturdays from Feb. 4-March 18: Saturdays at 10 a.m.-Noon
Fee is $180/student. Juniors only. Registration is open now and will close on Jan. 13 or once the sessions are filled. To register on 8to18, click here.

Parking Reminder from the Deans' Office
Viking Reminder: Unfortunately, at this time we cannot allow students to drive and park on campus without a parking permit. We have limited spaces available for parking and have sold out of all of our allotted parking spots for students this school year. There are no daily parking passes available at this time. If you do not have a permit to drive and park on campus, your vehicle will be ticketed and/or towed at your expense. If we have the ability to offer daily parking passes in the future, we will send out a notification. Thank you for understanding!
Questions? Please contact the South Deans' Office at 708-335-5030.
Students, Make a Difference this Week!
Wednesday: Food Drive
Students, bring two non-perishable food items (four for adults) to this Wednesday's Boys' Basketball game vs. Thornridge in the South Gym to receive free admission! Sophomore game is at 5 p.m.; varsity tips off at 6:30 p.m.
Friday: Chill on Conflict
Students, wear a seasonal sweater, donate $1 and sign a Peer Mediation pledge to put conflict on ice during lunches on Friday. You'll be rewarded with peace and some holiday goodies!
Above: Hundreds of area 8th Graders visited the Fieldhouse last Thursday night to explore their academic and extracurricular options at H-F next year. Thanks to Activities Director Gail Smith for organizing this amazing annual event and thank you to all of our teachers, coaches, sponsors and students — including our Mock Trial members (shown above) — who worked hard to promote their programs to our newest Vikings.
Below: Class of 2017 alumna Morgan Harvey zoomed into Mrs. Stolzenbach's and Ms. Smith's Microbiology classes last week to inspire students with her college experiences and career path, which has recently led her to working at the Louisiana Department of Health as a CDC Public Health Associate.
