"Encourage one another and build each other up ..."
1 Thessalonians 5:11
We have finished our State Reports, and I had so much fun reading through each of these! I learned so much about each state, and loved the way the students presented their research, with just a hint of their personalities too! The rubrics are in the Friday Folders today, and are good to review. We will be presenting these informally in class soon.
We will be leading the school community in a mass to celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation on Wednesday, March 25. This is the week before we lead the school in the Holy Thursday Prayer Service on Thursday, April 2. I will be sending home any reading parts for the March 25 mass next week.
A couple of readers in the class would like to start a Book Club for 5th grade! While middle school hosts a monthly, school-sponsored book club, there is not yet another opportunity for students to share their love of books with their peers! While this is not a school-sponsored event, it sounds like an amazing time to come together and share a love of reading! Thank you to Siena and Trinity (and their moms) for brining them together! See the flyer for more details!
Today marks the end of the 2nd trimester. Can you believe we are 2/3 of the way through the year? In Reading this week, we started a historical fiction unit, reading an excerpt from a book called, Bud, Not Buddy. In Math, we started and finished Topic 10 on data and line plots. We will have a test next week, and will move on to finding the volume. In Science, learned where water comes from, and how to determine a good place to build a settlement, based on the plants and soil around each area. In Social Studies, we started to learn about the very beginnings of our country, what happened after the Revolutionary War.
