A Note from Ms. Martin
Pierce Families,
We celebrated Constitution Day on Monday! Our students completed many activities, such as creating and completing booklets, creating a Class Constitution, and learning about the creation of the Constitution. Check out the pictures below!
Pierson visited the Pierce Street construction site today and really got his paws dirty! The construction is coming along well, and our section of Pierce is finishing up soon.
Our students have finished their iReady assessments and our teaching staff is using this data to help inform their instruction. To learn more about these assessments and to check your child's results, please read the letter below.
Finally, our Fun Run is coming next Friday! Please consider donating and joining us for the excitement! More information below.
Wishing our families a meaningful Yom Kippur!

No Dogs on School Property
We love our fur babies, but ask that you kindly keep your pets off of school property. Our therapy dog, Shadow, will sometimes be out at arrival and dismissal and if there are other pets it can cause a distraction. Thank you!

Fun Run
Friday, September 29
The Annual Pierce Fun Run will take place the morning of Friday, September 29th. Fun Run is an annual fundraiser that our students participate in to raise money for a local non-profit along with school programs. Each grade level will take turns running around Pierce and then cheering on their fellow Panthers. Parents are all welcome to come and cheer on their students – specific run times by grade level will be announced as we get closer.
Fundraising for Fun Run opens TODAY. Share the link below with friends and family – our goal is to raise $10,000! A portion of the funds raised will be donated to Variety, the Children’s Charity – our nonprofit partner for the last few years. The remaining money will be used to support the Pierce PE department and other PTA programs. Visit https://app.memberhub.gives/piercefunrun23 to set your student up to receive donations today.

Not New - But Still Important Information
Volunteering
When Entering the Building...
All visitors to the building (who will be leaving the front office) MUST bring their ID with them to sign in. This is a new requirement within all BPS schools. We will scan your ID and it will check on the sex offender registry. Then, once cleared, we will print a visitor nametag which must be worn and clearly visible. Thank you for helping us to make Pierce a safer environment for your child(ren)!
Volunteer Form (iChat)
If you plan to volunteer at Pierce this year, attend field trips, or come for special events, you should complete this volunteer form! Return to Carey Shields Larson at clarson@birmingham.k12.mi.us.

Fourth Annual S.O.S. Run/Walk
Join Team Pierce!
The Fourth Annual 5K and 1 Mile Run / Walk for S.O.S. will be held on Saturday, October 1st. Join Team Pierce and let's make this our best year yet!
Join your friends and neighbors at Seaholm HS for an event that's fun for all ages. It's the biggest SOS fundraiser of the year! Your participation helps ensure that SOS can continue supporting BPS families with financial assistance and volunteer services. Each year, SOS provides thousands of dollars in financial support to dozens of families in all BPS schools. Interested individuals must register no later than Monday, Sept. 18 to be guaranteed a race shirt.
Flu Clinic
We will be having a flu clinic here on October 3rd from 3pm-6pm in the Commons!
Below is the link where you can sign up for a flu shot appoint time:
https://pierceelementary.fullslate.com
Vaccines are open to anyone 6 months old and up. Please bring an insurance card to their apt. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Bloom Pediatrics believes in community health and we feel the best way to fight the flu is to get vaccines to as many members of the community as possible.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday Oct 3rd!
Kids Club
WE ARE IN NEED OF ASSISTANTS!
Kids Club registration and scheduling is open through October.
Reminder, we are currently capped at 36 for the AM and PM. And starting September 8th, there will be no PM Kids Club on Fridays until further notice. Please look for communication in the PTA Post, Panther Press and on Social Media for updates.
If you know of anyone who is interested in working in our PM Kids Club as an assistant, please email Carey Shields Larson at clarson@birmingham.k12.mi.us. We have an immediate need to fill these positions. As soon as we can hire more assistants, the sooner we can increase the caps on our programs.
