Our Week at Reutter School
Week of February 16, 2026
Principal's Message
Dear Reutter School Families/Guardians,
Reutter School honored African American History Month this Wednesday with an impactful live theatrical performance centered on the life and legacy of Jackie Robinson. The presentation effectively connected Robinson’s historical significance to our school's character development program by highlighting essential traits like integrity and perseverance. On the same day, our Student Council representatives visited the Gloucester County Courthouse for a facility tour and an engaging mock trial experience to learn about the judicial system. This valuable educational opportunity will be extended to our Safety Patrol and Counselor Helpers next Wednesday, February 18.
Instructional engagement remained high throughout the week across all subject areas. In fifth grade, math students focused on the mechanics of multiplying fractions, while science classes worked on interpreting the complexities of food chains within ecosystems. Fifth-grade social studies students also made significant progress toward completing their formal essays as part of an ongoing Document-Based Question (DBQ) unit. Meanwhile, sixth-grade ELA instruction centered on the critical skill of unpacking prompts, providing students with the strategies necessary to deconstruct writing tasks and prepare comprehensive written responses.
Looking ahead, we are excited to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Spirit Week starting next week. Tuesday will be a particularly special milestone for our fifth-grade students, as it marks their 1,000th day of school since beginning Kindergarten. A reminder, school will be in session this Friday, February 13, on an early dismissal schedule with dismissal at 12:10 PM. All district schools will then be closed on Monday, February 16, in observance of President's Day.
Thank you for your continued support of our students and programs.
Sincerely,
Mr. Theodore Peters
Principal

A Look At This Past Week...
Reutter School Observes African American History Month with Live Performance
On Wednesday, the students at Caroline L. Reutter School were treated to an immersive and powerful theatrical performance chronicling the life and legacy of Jackie Robinson. Held in observance of African American History Month, the assembly provided a dynamic look at how Robinson’s courage on and off the baseball diamond helped change the course of American history.
The performance brought the late 1940s to life, illustrating the immense pressure and adversity Robinson faced as he broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball. Beyond his athletic prowess, the presentation focused on the core values that defined his journey: integrity, determination, and citizenship. Students watched as actors portrayed pivotal moments from Robinson's career, emphasizing that his success was built as much on his character as it was on his swing.
The assembly served as an enlightening experience for our young learners, sparking meaningful conversations about resilience and social justice. By witnessing Robinson’s story through live theater, students gained a deeper appreciation for the pioneers who paved the way for future generations.
Students Donate Stuffed Animals to GCEMS
Our Student Council leaders met with Gloucester County EMS recently to donate stuffed animals collected at our 6th Grade Winter Dance. These toys will be used to bring a smile and a sense of safety to pediatric patients in our county.
Sixth Grade ELA
Sixth-grade students at Reutter School are currently focusing on the essential skill of "unpacking the prompt" during their ELA lessons. This strategy involves carefully deconstructing a writing task to identify the specific requirements, key verbs, and core questions being asked. By learning how to break down a prompt before they begin drafting, students are able to plan their written responses more effectively, ensuring that their final work is both organized and comprehensive.
PTO's Candy Gram Fundraiser
CLR students enjoyed purchasing candy grams for their friends this week during the lunnch periods ahead of Valentine's Day.
Reutter School Students Celebrate Academic Success
Reutter School held its first RAM READY Pep Rally of the year this past Friday. This incentive program rewards students who meet their specific iReady lesson goals, fostering a culture of personal accountability and academic growth.
The event brought students and staff together for a series of team-building activities, ending with an entertaining teacher competition that had the whole gym cheering.
Building Fraction Fluency
Fifth-grade students at Reutter School are currently developing their skills in multiplying fractions. In these lessons, students are learning the procedural steps of multiplying numerators and denominators while also utilizing visual models to understand the underlying concepts.
