What is Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

PBIS is a framework that guides school teams in the implementation of evidence-based practices for improving academic, social, and behavior outcomes for all students. PBIS is a process that requires on-going commitment in order to create effective systems for teaching and addressing behavior and social-emotional skills. The Walteria parent and stakeholder community are an important part of PBIS. This year, Walteria is in the implementation phase of school wide positive behavior supports. Earlier this school year we shared the school-wide matrix that each teacher is reviewing with students at regular intervals. To support our efforts, please review this with your children.

The next phase to PBIS includes demostrating and sharing school-wide expectations around the exteriors of the classroom (i.e., playground, cafeteria, bathrooms, front of school, etc). We call this "PBIS Rotations." Starting on Tuesday, January 17, all students in grades 1-5 will be engaging in PBIS Rotations, whereby teachers lead groups throughout the school to share the expecatationns of behaviors. Rotations align with the contents of the matrix and gives time for students to get the expectations modeled so they know what expecations look like. The following is the schedule for the PBIS Rotations:

Grades 1 & 2: January 17 (session 1) & January 20 (session 2)

Grade 3 & 4: January 17 (session 1) & January 19 (session 2)

Grade 5: January 18 (session 1 & 2)

Please use the above dates as a referene point to ask your child if they had their rotations and what they learned. Thank you so much for partnering with us to create a safe, respectful, and responsible place for all.

Please note that this registration is only for new runners. Kids who are already signed up for RC do not have to sign up again.This time around we would like parents to sign up using the Google Form link below.

We also want to reiterate that K/TK students must be accompanied by their parents for every RC session.

First RC this year is scheduled to start on 1/13, weather permitting.

The last date for sign ups is 1/20.
