This week we will also be starting UTK Pre-Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year. We have enrollment packets printed in the front office. You can pick one up and complete it in our office or take it home with you and then return it once complete. Here is some important information if you have a child who will be eligible for UTK next school year...
Pre-Enrollment Window
- January 22nd - February 2nd
- February 5th - 9th - Schools will review all completed enrollment packets submitted between the Initial Enrollment Window. It is not a first come, first served basis during this priority enrollment period. The enrollment paperwork completed during this time will be prioritized based on residency, date of birth, and siblings.
- February 12 - Schools will begin notifying parents of placement and providing the QR codes to families who do not receive resident placement so they can request an alternate location.
- February 20 - Neighborhood Schools Enrollment Options Department will begin contacting families with placement offer.
- Students born between September 2nd, 2019 and September 1, 2020
- San Diego Unified resident students
- Students who are 5 will be enrolled in kindergarten
- Students turning 4 after September 1, 2024, are not eligible for UTK
Requirements (what families will need to bring)
- Birth Certificate
- Proof of Residence
- Up-to-date Immunization
- IEP, if applicable
All UTK eligible students will be offered a UTK spot within San Diego Unified, although a spot is not guaranteed at your neighborhood school.
(Our understanding is starting in the 2025-2026 school year all UTK eligible students will be guaranteed a spot at their neighborhood school.)
The Jones Instructional Leadership team attended the San Diego County Office of Education Equity Conference to learn from renowned speakers in the world of education and equity. Their varied backgrounds and perspectives have given new insights, understanding and inspiration for our team to take back to our site.

Jones Elementary PTA
Our Parent Teacher Association works with Jones Elementary to provide programs and support to benefit the students, their families, teachers, school administration and the community. Run entirely by volunteers, the PTA raises money to support enrichment programs, program instructors, educational assemblies and field trips, family events, and special classroom supplies.
As always, we need your membership, support and ability to volunteer. You can become a member using Totem, a respected membership management service. Please contact us with other thoughts on how we are doing, and your ideas on how you can become involved. We look forward to hearing from you.
