Take Flight
October 29, 2024
Greetings
It is always a joy to share news from Take Flight. Our students, teachers, and mentors are productive every day, and all seem to be having a good time. We welcome your visits and remain grateful to all as we continue to grow in this program.

Who's Who at Take Flight
It is a pleasure this week to introduce the Take Flight students from the LHS Class of 2027.
Mallory Eshbaugh
Hi, my name is Mallory Eshbaugh and I am from Lebanon NH. My favorite subject in school is probably math if I had to choose. Some of my hobbies are rowing, xc-skiing, teaching swim lessons in the summer and running. I am still trying to figure out my future but I would hope for it to be in aviation. I have enjoyed this program a lot and am very grateful for this experience.
Ian Danen-Lucier
Hi, my name is Ian Danen-Lucier. I lived in Plainfield for most of my life but now I live in Lebanon. In my free time I enjoy running, playing basketball and pretty much anything outdoors, hiking, rock climbing, skiing, and a bunch of other things. I plan on being an aeronautical engineer and I am hoping to use the Air National Guard to get me there. As soon as I heard about Take Flight, I knew I had to apply. It has been a fantastic opportunity for me to learn about aviation and build many skills that I can apply anywhere in life. I am glad I could be a part of such an amazing program and I am excited to see where it goes.
Charlie Ferland
Hi, my name is Charlie and I’m a sophomore in Take Flight. I am from Grantham, where I live with my sister, brother, and dog. I play soccer and baseball. In the future I’d like to be a pilot for a major airline. One thing I really like about Take Flight is how it demands me to be meticulous and pay attention to the most minute details.
Shaya Kiridena
My name is Shaya Kiridena, and I'm from Lebanon, NH. My favorite
subjects are typically any form of science or math, currently Take
Flight. I enjoy listening and making music, and I play the violin and
the drums. I also love being outdoors, and I enjoy skiing, hiking, and
water activities like wake surfing and fishing. I like Take Flight
because of the real world, hands-on experience I get, and learning how
to better work collaboratively with others. I also like the sense of
community within the class. I have always been fascinated with the
idea of air travel, and in the future, I hope to go into aeronautical
engineering.
Congratulations to Ben
LHS Athlete of the Week
The golf team ended the season as the 4th seed, and Ben was in the top ten in New Hampshire.
Coming Soon to the Valley News
Chris Dolan from the Valley News spent an hour in the hangar last week chatting with our students and watching the pieces of the airplane come together. She is a former educator and was amazed to see our students in action. We hear that a photographer will follow, and then you'll be able to read about Take Flight in the paper!
Taking the Vertical Stabilizer One Step Further
As you know, the funding model for Plane-Build programs is that once completed, we will sell our plane on the open market and use the funds to purchase another plane kit for our next group of students. The NH Aviation Museum raised all the funds for our first kit, and they continue to support us in every way needed.
The plane our students are building will be customized by whoever buys it, so it will stay in its current aluminum appearance. However, Jeff Rapsis encouraged us to dress up the vertical stabilizer our mentors built in August with Lebanon colors, so that is what we are going to do!
We met with Reid Tomasko of Shock Auto Styling on Monday, and students selected a maroon background with the Raider bird on one side and LHS on the other. These are the first drafts, hot off the press!
Reid also caught our attention by driving up in his Cyber Truck.
In the Hangar
E pluribus unum
"Out of many, one."
The hangar is always busy. It's fun to see the pieces coming together!
