Mrs. Ottaviano went to the Union School in Farmington, Connecticut. Then she went to Springfield College. She played a ton of sports growing up and played field hockey in college. She became a physical education teacher because she was inspired by her PE teacher when she was in kindergarten. This teacher's name is Mr. Avezzie and Mrs. Ottaviano still keeps in touch with him and he is 90 years old!
Mrs. Ottaviano did not come up with the game "Old Witchy Toes", she says it originated at Martinson Elementary School twenty-five years ago. She has been teaching physical education for fifteen years and has been teaching at EWS for ten years. For all of the other games we play, she says she makes them using her imagination and gets some ideas from YouTube.
The Halloween parade is where all of the kids from Eames Way School go to the back of the school where the playgrounds are. All of the families make a giant circle around the blacktop as they wait for the students and the parade to start. The kids get in one humongous line and there's more than 250 kids (the WHOLE school!) Teachers walk, too. Everyone walks three laps and all of the parents usually go around the circle to see the children’s costumes. The top five costumes this year were: witches, minions, blow ups, princesses, and video game characters. Families smiled at their kids and tried to find their kids and take pictures with them.
Parents could be picked up by their parents if they put it in PickUp Patrol. PickUp Patrol is what we use to know if kids are getting dropped off or if they are getting picked up. And after the parade, everybody packed up and if they weren’t getting picked up by their parents early after the parade, kids watched a movie, played games with friends, and did drawing. And they all came home to their families and put their costumes on and they went trick or treating in their neighborhoods! Happy Halloween!
