Oral Health Screening

Reeths-Puffer Elementary has scheduled a free oral health screening provided by Public Health Muskegon County on Tuesday, December 16 and Tuesday, January 6.

Michigan law now requires all children entering kindergarten or their first year of school to have a dental screening.

To help families meet this requirement, Public Health - Muskegon County has partnered with Muskegon Area Intermediate School District and Hackley Community Care to provide free dental screening during school.

What you need to know:

  • There is no cost to families if you use Public Health - Muskegon County's dental screening team.

  • A licensed dental professional will do a quick look in your child's mouth.

  • No treatment is done - just a screening. Results are sent home to you.

Michigan Safety Guidelines — Simple Guide for Families

🚗 Where Should Kids Sit?

  • Children under 13 years old should ride in the back seat whenever possible.

  • Rear-facing seats may go in the front only if the airbag is turned off.

Rear-Facing Car Seat

  • Must ride rear-facing until age 2
OR until they reach the seat’s height/weight limit.

🧒 Ages 2 to 5

Forward-Facing Car Seat

  • After outgrowing rear-facing, use a forward-facing seat until age 5
OR until they reach that seat’s height/weight limit.

🧒➡️👦 Ages 5 to 8

Booster Seat

  • Use a booster with a lap-shoulder belt until age 8
OR until the child is 4 ft. 9 in. tall.

👦➡️🧑 Ages 8 to 13

Regular Seat Belt

  • Child uses a properly fitting seat belt.

  • Should stay in the back seat when possible.

💡 Safety Tip

Keep your child in each type of seat as long as they fit, based on the manufacturer’s height/weight rules.

Capturing Kids' Hearts

Did you know that R-PEL is a two year in a row National Showcase School for CKH?

What is Capturing Kids' Hearts? CKH is a program for teachers that focuses on building strong, positive relationships between students and staff to foster a safe and supportive school environment.

You may have heard your kids talking about their Social Contract in their classroom, if not, ask them what that is!

December's Theme is Responsibility

What is Responsibility?

Responsibility is the willingness and ability to take ownership of our thoughts, words, and actions. We have a responsibility to our school, family, and community to be accountable for our choices and how they impact ourselves and others.
