Good Morning,

What a busy week: spring pictures, parent teacher conferences and our NAEYC re accreditation visit!

Solar Eclipse information:

We want to remind our families about the solar eclipse that will take place on Monday, April 8 just beginning as students are dismissing from school at 2:15. The timeline for our area of viewing is as follows:

  • Begins at 2:16 p.m
  • Ends at 4:39 p.m.
  • Maximum viewing period at 3:29 p.m.

To keep you safe:

  • Never look directly at the sun, as you can seriously hurt your eyes.
  • Proper eye protection such as eclipse glasses. Sunglasses do not work and are not safe!

Adams Information:

It was great to see so many families at Monday evening's Johnson ECC Council Meeting. Parents were able to hear about our plans to pack, how the building will be designed for learning, discussion around communications, tours of the facility, and the after school program that will be available to families. There were so many great questions!

The new building is a large building that encompasses many different programs and departments such as: WPS Administration, Weymouth CFCE program, WPS Family Engagement Center, Adams Academy and Johnson ECC will join in September.

Mr. Meehan, Facilities Planning, shared an informative powerpoint about this large facility so that families understand and can visualize the many different areas dedicated to the many departments and programs. Unfortunately, we will not be able to keep our school name so we are asking families to help us find a new name. If interested, please complete this form. Once we have collected responses from the community, a few names will be selected to go before School Committee for final approval.

The next Parent Council Meeting is on Tuesday at 5:30. Assistant Superintendent Smith will be present for the discussion about fundraising for the new playground that we hope to install as we transition to Adams.

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Help us reach our goal of 10,000 books

One of the most important gifts we can give our children is to help them learn to read and write so that they can succeed in school and beyond. Confident, active readers are able to use their reading skills to follow their passions and curiosity about the world. We all read for a purpose: to be entertained, to take a journey of the imagination, to connect with others, to figure out how to do something, and to learn about history, science, the arts, and everything else.

We hope to foster the love of reading in our students. Please help us by helping your child read each day. Attached is a reading chart that your child can color each time they read a book. Bring the reading chart to school once all apples are colored and your child will receive a Super Reader sticker. You may choose to only read 10 books per month or submit as many reading charts as you want. We will be keeping track by classroom. If JECC students reach the goal of 10,000 books, we will have a Bubble party at the end of the year.

Help our students reach their goal!
