The Wallin Way Weekly Newsletter
Friday, January 9th
Good Evening K9 Families,
Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful and relaxing winter break filled with time spent with friends and family. It has been so great to welcome our students back this week and see them return with excitement, smiles, and a readiness to learn.
Our students jumped right back into their routines, and classrooms were buzzing with meaningful learning. We’ve seen thoughtful discussions, strong collaboration, and students engaging deeply in reading, math, and problem-solving as they reconnected with classroom expectations. Teachers have shared how quickly students settled back in and demonstrated focus, responsibility, and perseverance.
As we move into the rest of winter, we are excited to continue building momentum, strengthening relationships, and supporting each child’s growth: academically, socially, and emotionally.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend, enjoy the big football game this weekend, and as always…Go Chicago Bears!!

School Information
Attendance and Transportation Reminders
We kindly ask all families to notify both the classroom teacher and the main office if your student will be absent for any reason. Clear communication helps us ensure accurate attendance records and maintain a safe, organized school environment.
Additionally, if there are any changes to your child’s transportation plans—such as switching from a bus rider to a car rider—please inform the main office directly. Our office staff will relay the information to the appropriate teacher.
Lastly, for the safety and efficiency of our drop-off procedure, please pull all the way forward in the car line and have students exit the vehicle on the side of the school.
Thank you for helping us keep everything running smoothly!
Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders
Morning Drop Off
For the safety of all students, we kindly ask that families do not park at Ira Jones during morning drop-off. Instead, please use the designated car line, which is designed to keep traffic moving safely and efficiently.
To help maintain a steady flow, we also ask that drivers remain in their vehicles at all times during drop-off. Following these procedures ensures a safe and smooth start to the day for everyone.
Afternoon Pick Up
Please remember to turn off your car while waiting to pick up your student after school. Running cars pose a safety risk for students and teachers walking up and down the car lines, and it's also important to reduce the fumes in the air for everyone’s health. Thank you for helping us keep our school environment safe and healthy!
