Roadway Safety Message

Congestion around our landlocked schools combined with narrow streets in Glen Ellyn can be a challenge and impacts the safety of students coming to and from school. District 41 continues to partner with the Glen Ellyn Police Department and parents on safety matters. As always, the Glen Ellyn Police Department will be present at schools as often as possible during drop off and pick up times. Here are a few reminders for parents and kids related to safety:

  • Discharge students on the passenger side of vehicles instead of on the active roadway drivers side

  • Watch carefully for students riding bikes and scooters to and from school

  • Remind students to follow the rules of the road and be aware of vehicles on the roadways when riding their bikes and scooters

Ordinance Regulates Bikes, E-Bikes, and Scooters

from glenellyn.org

The Village of Glen Ellyn has adopted a new ordinance designed to address the growing use of bicycles, low-speed electric bicycles, and personal micro mobility devices such as electric scooters within the Village. Adopted by the Board of Trustees on April 28, 2025, the ordinance aims to improve safety, accessibility, and clarity regarding the use of such devices in public spaces.
