🐾 A Note From the Principal: My Purpose and Passion💙
Dear Booker Families and Students,
Happy New Year and welcome back to Booker Elementary! We are energized, focused, and ready to continue the strong momentum we built during the first semester. I know our staff is geared up for our return and prepared to take the second semester to the next level as we remain committed to Getting Booker Better, Faster.
As we move forward, we ask for your continued partnership in helping our scholars stay focused and motivated. Academic achievement remains our top priority, and students perform best when school and home are aligned in expectations. Please continue to emphasize the importance of effort, perseverance, attendance, and self-motivation each day.
Report cards will be posted this Friday.
Please be sure you have access to the Parent Portal to review your child’s progress. If you need assistance, contact our campus registrar:
Mrs. Velasquez
Phone: (281) 891-8756
Email: dvelas1@springisd.org
In addition, tutorials and Saturday School will kick off again later this month. These opportunities are designed to provide both additional academic support and enrichment. Families of students in grades 3–5 who's MOY data show may benefit from extra assistance or enrichment will receive an invitation. Please be on the lookout for this important communication. Together, we can ensure our scholars understand that academics come first—at school and at home.
Thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and partnership as we begin this important semester. We are excited about what lies ahead and look forward to finishing strong - we win as a team!!
With pride and appreciation,
Keisha Womack
BENGALS WE ENDED THE YEAR LOWER THAN WE STARTED! LET'S CHANGE THAT!
PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY!
ATTENDANCE IMPACTS ACADEMIC SUCCESS!
ATTENTION PARENTS: PLEASE READ! WE NEED YOUR HELP!
STATE LAW - HELP US HELP YOUR CHILD WHILE AT SCHOOL!
In accordance with Senate Bill 12 (SB 12), parents now must opt in to allowing their child to be seen in the school clinic during the school day.
Please note that if you do not choose to opt in:
Your child may only be seen in the clinic for emergency situations.
Regular or non-emergency visits to the nurse (such as headaches, stomachaches, minor scrapes, or other routine concerns) will not be allowed.
You will be contacted to pick up your child for non-emergency situations.
screenings like eyesight, hearing, and scoliosis can not be performed.
We urge you to carefully consider this decision, as opting out significantly limits our ability to support your child’s health needs during the school day.
Thanks,
Nurse Hughes

NEW CALENDAR FOR 2026-2027 ADOPTED!
DEADLINE IS JANUARY 9. 2025
WE HAVE 58 DAYS LEFT UNTIL STAAR!!!
Mindset of Mastery – No Mediocre Thinking Allowed
As we move through our mid-year testing, I want to focus on one thing—the Mindset of Mastery.
💭 Mastery Over Mediocre
At Booker, “good enough” is no longer enough. Our Bengals deserve excellence, not excuses. We are pushing every scholar to move from approaching to meeting and mastering grade-level expectations—aiming higher, trying harder, and beating their own best every day.
📖 Mastery Starts at Home
You can help by reinforcing high expectations:
• Read daily and ask questions
• Review math facts
• Encourage full-sentence responses
• Limit screen time and talk about learning
Ask your child:
“What did you master today?”
“What are you still working on?”
💪 We Can and We Will
Changing a campus begins with changing mindsets. When students, staff, and families believe mastery is possible, success always follows.
