Jump-A-Thon is Coming Soon! 🦊👟
Our annual Foster Jump-A-Thon is just around the corner, and we are excited to invite all of our Foxes to participate in this fun school tradition! Students will collect pledges and participate in jumping activities while helping raise money for Foster Elementary.
Every dollar raised goes directly back to our students by supporting classroom materials, school supplies, student services, and enriching opportunities throughout the year. Your support truly makes a difference for our Foster Foxes!
See the attachment for more information, pledge forms, and event details. Thank you for helping us support our students and school community!
Lost & Found Mountain Has Reached Peak Status! 🧥👟🧃
Our Lost & Found Is Growing
Our Foster Fox Lost & Found collection has officially grown from a small pile into what can only be described as a fully functioning clothing ecosystem. We currently have jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, lunch boxes, hats, and enough single gloves to outfit a very confused octopus.
If your student has been missing anything this year, there is a very good chance it has found its way to our Lost & Found area. We invite families to stop by and take a look before items are donated at the end of the school year.
Please encourage your student to check as well — you might be surprised what they rediscover! (Yes, that is the sweatshirt you bought three weeks ago.)
Thank you for helping us reunite these lonely belongings with their rightful owners! 🦊

This Month's Character Focus
Next Year's Class Assignments
As we plan for the upcoming school year, our teachers thoughtfully create balanced classes that take into account a variety of student needs, learning styles, and peer dynamics. Every effort is made to place students in supportive classroom communities where they can thrive. As shared in last month's newsletter, while we will do our best to consider placement requests that were made by Monday, May 18, we are not able to guarantee them.
Class lists will be posted at the school in the fall prior to the start of the school year. We appreciate your trust in our process and look forward to another great year ahead!
A Warm Welcome To Our New Foster Teachers
1st/2nd Grade
Hello, my name is Jessalynn Weigant. I graduated this
year from Grand Canyon University. I am from Sandy, Oregon, and I'm moving to
the area this summer. I am so excited for this new chapter in my life and for the
opportunity to be part of your school community.
To tell you a little about myself, I have been working in schools as an Educational
Assistant supporting students with IEPs and 504 plans for the past four years in the
Oregon Trail School District. Through these experiences, I have developed a strong
passion for helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Working
closely with students of all learning abilities has taught me the importance of patience,
flexibility, empathy, and building meaningful relationships in the classroom. My younger
brother is nonverbal autistic, and through him I have learned the importance of
recognizing students’ needs even when they may have difficulty communicating them.
He has played a huge role in shaping the person and educator I am today.
I am also very family-oriented and recently got engaged to my high school sweetheart. Some of
the things I love most include art and painting, reading, hiking, going to the beach, and
spending time with my friends and family—especially adventuring with my brother. I also
have three fur babies: a pitbull named Sheba and two cats, Trouble and Cleo.
I am truly looking forward to getting to know your students and families, supporting
student learning, and continuing to grow as an educator during this exciting new chapter
in my life. Thank you for welcoming me into your school community family.
2nd Grade
Hi! My name is Ashley Duffitt, and I am excited to be teaching second grade this coming school year! I love spending time with my family, reading, hiking, and exploring national parks. Every year, my oldest son and I take a special trip to visit a new one. My favorite seasons are summer and fall, so I enjoy sunshine, cozy autumn days, and the beautiful colors of the changing seasons. My children attend school in the district, which makes this community especially meaningful to me. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning, growing, and making memories with my students!
5th Grade
My name is Meghan Taylor, and I am thrilled to be joining Foster Elementary as a 5th grade teacher next year! I have been working with elementary students for four years now, teaching grades Pre-K through 5th, and every day has deepened my love for helping children grow, explore, and succeed.
I began my educational journey teaching Hard-of-Hearing students American Sign Language, earned my teaching license two years ago, and have enjoyed being a substitute teacher and working with a variety of students. I received my Masters of Arts in Teaching at Western Governors University, and prior to that, I studied at Oregon State University in Corvallis. Go Beavs!
When I’m not in the classroom, I love seeking out new adventures. Two summers ago, my fiancé Alex and I had the amazing opportunity to live in Japan for three months, exploring vibrant cities like Osaka and Kyoto—what an unforgettable experience! I also enjoy hiking, kayaking, and camping with my family, as well as diving into new hobbies like crocheting, woodworking, and, of course, reading. Learning new things is one of my greatest passions, both in and out of the classroom.
I am so thrilled to meet all of you and to become a part of the Sweet Home community. I look forward to a school year full of curiosity, growth, and fun memories together!
