Wildcat Pride: Celebrating our Students
The end of the school year is always a busy and exciting time, filled with activities and celebrations that highlight the outstanding work of our students here in Elgin ISD.
This year, however, we’ve been fortunate to celebrate our Wildcats’ achievements all year long! Over the past few months, especially, we’ve seen an incredible wave of accomplishments across every grade level, and I’d like to take a moment to highlight just a few.
Our students continue to excel academically. At Elgin High School, 40 sophomores earned a total of 48 College Board “Big Future” Awards. This is an honor reserved for students who rank in the top 10% on the PSAT among their peers, including first-generation college-bound students and those from rural or small-town communities. This is an outstanding accomplishment and a testament to students who are dreaming big and working hard toward a bright future. Thank you to Principal Armetrius Staples and the entire EHS team for fostering an environment where our Wildcats can thrive.
Our UIL calculator team at EHS, now only in its third year, is already making its mark. This talented group placed 6th in a highly competitive district, which is an impressive achievement in such a challenging event and a strong indication of continued success ahead.
At the elementary level, our math scholars are also shining. All five elementary campuses had students recognized as National Math Stars, a program identifying students in the top 2–3% nationwide for mathematical talent. This speaks volumes about the strength of our academic foundation across the district.
Our fine arts programs continue to raise the bar. The Elgin High School Wildcat Band recently earned a unanimous Superior rating at UIL competition. Six judges awarded the highest possible score. This achievement indicates the dedication, discipline, and countless hours of practice our students and directors have invested.
The EHS Wildcat Guard earned 9th place at the TCGC State Championships. After competing in a lower division last year, their high ranking and qualification for state competition highlight their growth, teamwork, and commitment.
This culture of excellence in Fine Arts is guided by outstanding leadership. Under the direction of Mrs. Alyson Keller, Elgin ISD has built a program that continues to thrive. We are proud to share that EISD has been named a 2026 Best Community for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation. This honor recognizes excellence in funding, instruction, participation, and community support. This recognition belongs to our entire Fine Arts Department and to a community that truly values the arts.
Our student-athletes have also had a remarkable season. Five Elgin powerlifters (three girls and two boys) qualified for and competed at the state meet this spring. All three girls are juniors, and we look forward to seeing their continued success next year.
Our boys' varsity soccer team made history, reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2014. They finished fourth in district with a 12-10-4 record and earned nine all-district selections. Head Coach Eddie Lerma was named District 23-5A Coach of the Year by his peers, a well-deserved honor for his leadership and dedication.
These highlights are truly just the beginning. Every day, our Wildcats are learning, growing, and achieving great things. It is an exciting time in Elgin ISD, and I invite you to join us in celebrating the incredible work happening across our district.
Go Wildcats!🐾

¡Vamos Wildcats! 🐾

County Line Road Closed Beginning Monday
The City of Elgin has announced that construction on County Line Road will begin this Monday, April 27. This road closure will affect traffic patterns, particularly drop-off and pick-up times at Elgin High School and Niedig Elementary, with expected completion on December 31.
County Line Road will be closed from Briar Brush Lane to U.S. 290. This work is part of a larger construction project in the City that includes 4,639 linear feet of improvements on County Line Road and Kennedy Street that will address longstanding drainage and flooding issues in the area.
Families should plan for extra travel time along FM 1100 and County Line Road north of Neidig Elementary School and consider using GPS or navigation apps that provide real time traffic updates to help you plan the most efficient routes to and from campus. Parents of EHS drivers are also encouraged to talk with their Wildcat drivers about possible delays and changes to their daily commute.
We understand that many families and staff members live along County Road or in nearby areas. The City of Elgin has provided a helpful webpage with updates and alternative routes: https://www.elgintexas.gov/1403/Elgin-Forward. Please review this information and plan accordingly to ensure timely arrival at school.
We appreciate your patience and flexibility as we all navigate these improvements together. We appreciate the City of Elgin’s efforts to improve our city!
