PLE 26/27
Upcoming Trips
PLE Field Trip Procedures
We want every student to be able to participate in Field Trips at PLE. Most grade levels participate in 1-2 field trips per school year which aligns with their curriculum. There is a fee for each field trip students participate in which includes the event fee and the transportation fee when applicable.
Due to shortage of bus drivers DCSD is not providing transportation. In the event transportation is needed for the field trip, we will obtain charter buses. Please know this has added significant cost to our field trips. Transportation cost on average will add about $17.00 to all field trips.
Please ensure you are registering your student 2 weeks prior to the field trip. This is to give us time to print rosters, and to ensure all medical needs are met for your students. Please help us by registering your student in a timely manner.
DEADLINES
Field trips take a lot of coordination, and meeting deadlines helps everything go smoothly for everyone! Please be sure to complete your studentβs registration and payment by the designated due dates so they can join in on the fun.
If youβre having any issues with registration or payment, reach out to your teacher or call the office before the deadline β weβre happy to help make sure your student can attend.
Students who are not registered by the deadline will not be able to participate and will join another class on the day of the field trip.
REGISTRATION
- All registration and payments are to be completed online using My School Bucks. Direct links for your students field trips are listed below in the details for the field trip please use those.
- Utilizing an actual computer is the best way to ensure your registration gets completed.

SACK LUNCHES
We do not automatically prepare school sack lunches for students for field trips. If you would like our Kitchen staff to prepare a sack lunch for your student please fill out the form below:
This form needs to be submitted 2 weeks prior to date of field trip!
CHAPERONES
Teachers will communicate to families if they are in need of chaperones. Please respond directly to them if you are interested in chaperoning for an event.
If you are selected as a chaperone, we do need to make sure we have scanned your Driver's License into our Raptor system. This is our Visitor Management software. We will print off name tags for you. Please wear them, as this is a visual indicator to students you are a part of the group and a trusted adult.
Behavioral Expectations
To support a safe and positive experience for all students, participation in field trips and after school events may be impacted by behavior expectations. If a student has a significant behavior infraction within 10 days leading up to a regular field trip/after school event (or within 30 days before the 6th grade PLUM trip), they will not be eligible to attend.
Because field trip and event costs and group numbers are finalized in advance, refunds will not be issued in these cases.
Rationale for Behavioral Expectations
The decision to exclude a student from a field trip is a serious one, and it's almost always a last resort. The rationale behind it is not to punish the student but to ensure:
Safety: The primary concern is the safety of all students, chaperones, and staff. A student who has demonstrated an inability to follow rules, listen to directions, or control their impulses in the classroom may pose a safety risk in a new, less-controlled environment like a museum, park, or performance hall.
Logistics and Supervision: Field trips often have a higher student-to-adult ratio than a typical classroom, and the environment is dynamic. An adult's attention may be needed for an unexpected situation, and they cannot be constantly focused on one student. A student with a history of disruptive or defiant behavior can require a disproportionate amount of supervision, which detracts from the ability of chaperones to supervise the group as a whole.
The Experience of Others: A single student's behavior can ruin the experience for the entire group. This includes the students who have been looking forward to the trip, the chaperones who are volunteering their time, and the staff at the venue.
Accountability: Field trips are privileges, not rights. Tying attendance to good behavior reinforces the idea that positive actions and responsibility come with rewards. This is a crucial life lesson.
π PLEA: Helping Make Field Trips Possible!
Field trips are an important part of the Pine Lane experienceβand PLEA is helping make them happen! π²π»
For the 2026β27 school year, PLEA fundraising will help cover field trip transportation costs. With charter buses costing approximately $2,000 per grade level, per trip (about $30 per student), this support makes a BIG difference in keeping field trip costs manageable for our families.
π We are so grateful for PLEA and their continued support of Pine Lane students!
Please show your appreciation for PLEA and all they do to make a difference at Pine Lane!
