It's inventory time!

Please see the information below regarding band instrument inventory procedures. This is very important!

Tomorrow begins our band's very important inventory check.

****If your child is renting an instrument from a music store, such as Music and Arts or Tarpley, they will do nothing and simply continue their rental over the summer so they can keep practicing. This is critically important.

****If your child is using a school owned instrument, they MUST bring all school owned instruments to school on Monday, May 18th to be checked. This is when the directors inspect the instruments for serial numbers, matching cases, cleanliness and needed repairs. (Yes, this includes their at-home instrument for tubas and bari saxes, etc.. Please plan ahead. You can drop if off to the front office ANYTIME during the school day, or to door 21 from 7:15-8:10 AM, or from 4:00-4:30 PM. )

We will decide if an instrument needs to be sent in to our repair shops over the summer for summer repair and cleaning or not. Most instruments end up going in and another instrument is provided from the school to borrow over the summer. When school starts in August, we will check out the cleaned/repaired instruments as needed.

This is required and critical. Also, this year we are being audited by the district, and need to put eyes on every single instrument in the program.

Audition results will be posted on the 2nd to last day of school in Google Classroom. Results are final.

Students should begin working on summer music and music for next fall. Scales are always vital.

Have you or a friend missed the deadline to apply for PSO Summer Programs? No worries – we have extended the deadline for applications to May 29th.

Please apply as soon as possible so we can secure a spot for you in one of our orchestras. We also have opportunities for wind ensemble and chamber music during the program as well as many electives and classes.

All volunteers will need to create an account and complete an application, online orientation and background check through the Plano ISD volunteer management system, VOLY, to be eligible for district/school volunteer opportunities. Please visit plano.voly.org to create a volunteer account and begin this process. These items will need to be completed by volunteers each school year.

An email will be sent to the volunteer applicant communicating the status of their application and criminal history search within 3-5 business days of completing these steps. Volunteer approval status can also be viewed by the volunteer by logging into their account. Volunteers will need to complete the online orientation as well to be eligible to volunteer. Once you have been officially approved, please email Mr. Killgo (philip.killgo@pisd.edu) to let him know you are an Otto Band Approved Volunteer!

We have several options to choose from, but we recommend Tarpley or Music and Arts as these stores offer fantastic service and visit Otto regularly for instrument repair.

Tarpley or Music & Arts can deliver your instrument and supplies from our list to Otto.

We recommend Dallas Percussion for all percussion students' supplies (https://www.denverpercussion.com/dallas.htm) and texasmarimas.com for their rental.

Private Lessons are the way to go! Please consider signing up your child for lessons!
