Note from Mr. Moore:
Dear North Side Families,
It’s hard to believe we are already well into October! Our students are making tremendous academic and social growth, and we are so proud of their progress. Thank you for your partnership in helping your child succeed each day. One of the most important ways families can support learning is through strong attendance—when students are present and on time, they are better able to stay connected, engaged, and confident in their learning. Every day of instruction truly matters.
I want to thank you for your commitment to daily independent reading at home. Setting aside at least 20 minutes each evening for your child to read, or to be read to, builds essential literacy skills and develops a lifelong love of learning. Your support is making a huge difference in the growth and success of our students.
I continue to see and hear wonderful examples of our students showing respect, responsibility, and PRIDE in all they do. A special shout-out goes to our kindergarten and first grade students for their excellent behavior and representation of North Side during their field trips this week! Their enthusiasm and manners were noticed and praised by everyone they met.
Thank you for your continued support of our students, teachers, and school community. Together, we’re making this an outstanding year of learning and growth at North Side!
I appreciate and value each of you!
Chad

Student Spotlight!
Urijah Johnson:
Urijah is an absolute ROCK STAR. He worked hard all during quarter one, and it showed on his Checkpoints as he was one of the highest scores in 5th grade in both math and ELA! He shows exactly what we expect in a North Side student, and we’re so proud of his hard work.
Zoriyah Bowman:
Zoriyah said 5th grade was going to be her best year yet, and she wasn’t kidding! She has shown her personal best in the classroom, during related arts, in the hallway, and in the cafeteria. We’re so thankful for her leadership and growth throughout the first quarter!
Staff Spotlight!
Ms. Martin
We are so thankful for Ms. Martin and the incredible support she provides our school each day. She is always willing to serve wherever needed and does so with a positive attitude and deep care for our students. Her flexibility and commitment reflect the best of our school’s collective efficacy—everyone working together for student success. Ms. Martin’s PRIDE in our school community and her student-focused mindset make her an invaluable part of our team. We are truly grateful for all she does to make a difference at North Side.

Counselor's Corner
What a beautiful time of year here in East Tennessee! I hope everyone enjoyed their fall break! This month in guidance classes, we have been learning about fire safety and the importance of making safe choices at home and school. Families can help by reviewing a home fire plan and checking smoke alarms together. With the colder months ahead, it is especially important to review safety around heaters and fireplaces. We want everyone to stay safe and warm!
Another focus this month is digital safety and how students can keep themselves safe while online. It is extremely important to monitor what our kids are exposed to, so please talk with your child about this important topic and let them share what they have learned.
The end of the month is Red Ribbon Week, focusing on making healthy choices and understanding medicine safety—only taking medicine from a trusted adult and never sharing with others. We will also talk about keeping our bodies healthy through exercise and nutritious foods.
As the holidays approach, we know this time can be challenging for some families. If your family needs holiday help or resources, please reach out. I’m here to connect you with community supports.
Together, we can help our students stay safe, healthy, and cared for all year long!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Murphy
