Nova Classical Academy is excited to announce that its Upper School is a 2023 National Blue Ribbon awardee. The United States Department of Education oversees the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, which recognizes schools across the country that demonstrate outstanding academic achievement or notable progress in closing achievement gaps among students. In 2023, the National Blue Ribbon School award was given to 9 schools in Minnesota and 353 in the nation. Nova Classical was one of only 43 schools in the United States selected for their work as an “Exemplary Achievement Gap Closing School.”
Dr. Brett Wedlund, Nova Classical’s Executive Director, shared the school's pride in this achievement. "We are very honored to be named a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School,” said Wedlund. “This recognition celebrates the hard work and dedication of our exceptional staff, motivated students, and supportive community. It highlights our continued commitment to make sure that every student has the opportunity to excel academically and reach their fullest potential."
Established in 1982, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program recognizes schools that consistently demonstrate excellence in education across various criteria. These criteria include reducing achievement gaps, overall academic performance, and educational innovation. Recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School for Closing Achievement Gaps illustrates Nova Classical Academy's commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that provides each student the resources, support, and academic challenge needed to reach the highest levels of academic excellence.
Nova Classical's entire community can be excited about this recognition. This award reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting educational equity and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.
