JSC Updates and Reminders
Student Drop-off / Pick-up Reminders:
When dropping off / picking up students on 16th Street, please remember to:
- park your vehicle at the curb
- escort your child/children TO THE CROSSWALK where the crossing guard is on duty
- escort your child/children to the front door of our building
Attendance Reminders
Students should arrive to school NO later than 9:00 AM. Any student arriving after 9:00 is considered tardy.
Please remember to send a written absence note with your child, upon return from an absence. Notes are required for EVERY absence, and need to be received within three days of the absence.
When a student reaches 10 absences for the school year, a doctor's note is required in order for any additional absences to be excused.
Please contact JSC main office with any questions regarding attendance.
The Elementary Student Assistance Program (ESAP) is designed to assist children who are experiencing difficulty with academic, attendance, behavioral, mental health, and/or social concerns.
Currently, if you have a concern for a child who is experiencing difficulty with academic, attendance, behavioral, mental health, and/or social concerns, please contact our JSC school counselor, Mr. John Pettit, (570) 621-2945. You may also contact your child's teacher, or Miss Lubinsky, school principal.
Weekender Backpack Program
Thanks to those who have signed up to have your child(ren) receive weekender bags each Friday! If you have not signed up, but are interested, please complete the link below:
Please click here for more information and to register your child
Walker Dismissal 3:05 PM
We would like to remind parents / families picking up students that walker dismissal is at 3:05 PM, daily. (Kindergarten walkers are dismissed at the same time as all other grade levels.) Kindergarten walkers are dismissed from the Gym Entrance (around side of building). Older siblings should report to the Gym Entrance to be dismissed with their kindergarten sibling.
All other grade level walkers (grades 1 through 4) are dismissed from the main entrance.
Bus Reminders
If your child rides the bus, please be sure to talk to your child(ren) about proper and safe bus behaviors. We do our best to consistently and frequently review the following points:
- Students should remain seated and facing forward at all times when riding the bus
- Students should use only kind words and refrain from any profanity or screaming
- Students should keep their hands, arms, legs, and objects to themselves at all times
In an effort to review and monitor bus behavior, Ms. Lubinsky will take turns riding buses (in the morning and afternoon). She is always on the lookout for students who are following JSC's PRIDE rules!
