Middleton Update
May 1, 2025
Dear Middleton Families,
Well. 162 survey responses. WAY BEYOND my expectations. My goal was 100. THANK YOU. I am so grateful you would take the time to do this for us. We will receive the anonymous results soon and will use this information to reflect on this year and set goals for next year.
If you would like to provide feedback regarding your child's class placement next year, please fill out this survey. This survey does not guarantee a certain teacher or classroom, but instead helps us create balanced classes. We value your input! (This survey will close May 11th.)
It's been a fun month at Middleton. See some of the highlights below. Also, we hope you'll join us next Wednesday for our Walk & Roll to School Day. See details below. (And fingers crossed for good weather!)
Sincerely,
Natasha

Walk & Roll to School Day: May 7
Middleton is partnering with the City of Sherwood to host a Walk & Roll event on May 7. This event promotes physical activity, safe pedestrian and biking skills, concern for the environment, and draws attention to school speed limits. Students and families are encouraged to walk, bike, bus, skate, or scooter to school in the morning. We will have stickers, pencils, bike bells, and other giveaways for any students who travel to school in the ways listed above. There will be music, staff and city officials cheering, and a raffle for bike helmets and mystery bags. The event will run from 7:20-7:55 a.m. and families are encouraged to participate with their children.
Yearbook
Don't forget to order your yearbook! We are hard at work completing the pages for this year's yearbook. Order your book now and two free custom pages are included for you to add photos of your student's year. Custom pages are due May 2. Any questions email yearbook@middletonpac.org
Spring Conferences
Spring conferences are on May 8th and 9th. There will be no school for students on these days, and all families will have the opportunity to sign up for a conference time (sign ups came home April 25 via Parent Square.)
Also a reminder that we are setting aside these days specifically for conferencing with families. If you need to miss due to family trips or other reasons, please sign up for a Zoom conference option. If that doesn't not work for you, teachers will send home the handouts from conferences in Friday Folders the following week so you can review your student's progress at home.
Scholastic Book Fair
We need volunteers! Click HERE to sign up.
Students can shop without cash thanks to eWallet, a digital payment account for purchases at the Book Fair. Family and friends can contribute funds. It’s convenient, simple, and secure. (Cash will also be accepted.)

- Classes will visit the Book Fair at a scheduled time during the school day
- Students can purchase books and/or browse throughout the Fair and fill out a Wish List.

Parent Input for Placement 2025-2026
Our staff will soon begin preparing classes for next year. This is a process we take very seriously and teams work hard to create balanced classes across each grade level. We look at all of the needs of our students including social/emotional, academic and behavior needs. Students are not placed directly with a teacher, but rather into a group of students. Teachers are assigned to classlists after balanced classes are prepared. As part of our process, we take into account parent input. If you have anything to share with us regarding the needs of your child as a learner, you can do so HERE.
Carnival Pre-Sale
This year we will have an online pre-sale for our carnival! Click the link below or scan the QR code for the google form. Please fill out this google form with all of the required information. When sending your venmo payment, please make sure the memo reads "carnival pre-sale with your child's name" so it is easy to distinguish between raffle basket money. Turn in cash and check to the front office, but please make sure the name you filled out the google form with is on the envelope so we can cross check. Online pre-sale will end May 5th. We will have a physical presale after school and activity cards, raffle tickets, and food tickets can still be purchased at the door when entering the carnival. All tickets and cards must be purchased at the door this year. There will be no money accepted at food tables inside the school building except for at the food trucks. Avoid the long lines and get all your tickets now! For questions, email our PAC at board@middletonpac.org.
Carnival Raffle
Thank you to those who signed up to put together baskets for each classroom. Every class is taken care of!
We are still accepting donations to complete the baskets! All money goes directly towards your child's class basket. FIVE raffle tickets will go to anyone who contributes. Cash and check can be turned into the front office or you can use the QR code to Venmo. Venmo memo needs to read - RAFFLE BASKETS with your child's full name, teacher name, and grade level. Any amount is SO greatly appreciated! Our venmo username is @MiddletonElementaryPAC
Flyers came home last week in Friday Folders with more information! Thank you again for your support and as always if you have any questions please don't hesitate to email us!
Moving to the Middle Summer Class for 5th Graders
If you are a little nervous about moving on to middle school, this is the class for you. Together we will erase your fears regarding lockers, transitioning between classes, organization, and the new responsibilities that come with being a new middle schooler. You will have the opportunity to meet classmates from other elementary schools, tour the campus, and get a sneak peek of Outdoor School. We will have a great time and are excited to have you join us! This 4-day class is for incoming 6th graders only.
Location: Sherwood Middle School-Activity Entrance
Cost: $85 - Limited needs-based scholarships are available.
Read more information here or contact Sherwood’s Summer Coordinator, Nanci Stauffer nstauffer@sherwood.k12.or.us (503.825.5015) for scholarship information or other questions.
Oregon's SEED Survey Coming Soon
Starting in May, Sherwood schools will administer the Student Educational Equity Development (SEED) Survey to students in grades 3-11, as required by Oregon law. This survey, from the Oregon Department of Education (ODE), gathers student feedback on their educational experiences to help improve support for schools and students statewide. The survey covers topics like academic opportunities, access to resources, and connection to school. It takes 10-20 minutes to complete.
Parents/guardians can decline their student’s participation. Students can also decline to participate by selecting the “I will not take this survey” option at the beginning of the survey, or they can skip any or all individual survey questions. For more information, including the survey in its entirety, please visit the ODE’s SEED Survey website. To access the opt-out form, please see the links below.
