School Safety Reminders
At Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary, our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our students. Please take a moment to review the following reminders to help us maintain a safe and orderly environment for all:
-
Visitor Procedures: All visitors must sign in at the front office using Raptor and present a valid driver’s license.
-
Transportation Changes: Any changes in transportation should be communicated to your child’s teacher through a written note or ParentSquare message no later than 11:00 a.m. This ensures that all students are in the correct location for dismissal.
-
Arrival & Dismissal: Please remain in your vehicle during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal. If your child requires assistance, a staff member will be available to help.
-
Student Check-Outs: Students may not be checked out after 2:00 p.m.—no exceptions.
-
Classroom Access: Parents and guardians are not permitted to walk students to class. If you need to meet with your child’s teacher, please schedule a conference in advance.
-
Instructional Time: To protect valuable instructional time, we will not interrupt classrooms with phone calls. If you need to get a message to your child, please leave it with our school secretary, who will ensure it is delivered promptly.
We sincerely appreciate your cooperation and support in creating a safe, structured, and focused learning environment for all students.
School Attendance
Regular school attendance is essential to your child’s success and contributes directly to our school’s overall performance. We ask that every student be present each day unless they are ill or there is a family emergency. If your child is absent, please provide a written excuse or a doctor’s note on the day they return.
When making plans for vacations or out-of-town events, we kindly encourage you to refer to the school holiday calendar and schedule trips during designated breaks. Consistent attendance ensures that your child remains on track both academically and socially, making a meaningful impact on their learning and growth.
Together, let’s ensure our scholars are present, engaged, and soaring toward success every day.
