Dear Woodland Math Families,

Welcome to a new school year at Woodland School! My name is Beth Grady, and I am excited to introduce myself as Woodland School’s Math Interventionist. This is my 26th year in the Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District, and I feel fortunate to continue working with our wonderful students and families.

My passion is helping every child build confidence in math. I truly believe that we are all math people! Too often, students feel nervous about math, and research shows that those feelings can make it harder to remember and think clearly. My goal is to provide support that helps students see math as something they can approach with curiosity and confidence rather than fear.

Students may work with me in two ways:

  • In the classroom (push-in services): I will join the math class to provide extra support as students learn alongside their peers.
  • In small groups (pull-out services): I meet with students in a smaller setting to focus on building specific skills needed to succeed in math class. These can vary in duration and are flexible to meet the needs of all students.

I look forward to working with your child to support their growth. Together, we can make math a positive and empowering part of their learning journey. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or if you’d like to connect about your child’s progress.

Warmly,

Beth Grady

Dear Woodland Families,

Happy new school year! We are Jessica Corallo and Julie Waskiewicz, the reading specialists at Woodland. We provide reading intervention for students in grades K-2.

Woodland is a Title 1 school, which means all students have the opportunity to receive pull-out reading services. Each fall, we analyze student data and conduct additional assessments to determine which students will benefit from intervention. If your student is selected, you will receive a letter with more information.

We look forward to working with families this year to ensure our students reach their full potential in literacy. Please feel free to reach out to us at any time.

We are so excited to be in all classrooms once per week teaching SEL (Social Emotional Learning) again this year. We have started our whole group lessons and are enjoying showing our class puppets to the students, talking all about feelings identification, how to ask for help, Woodland CARES, and starting the Zones of Regulation.

We also have started Lunch Bunch groups with rotating groups of students, which is so much fun! It is a great quiet time to work on social skills with peers, read stories, and do games and activities involving things like teamwork, self-regulation, and self-control!

Ask your student to share what Zones they know so far! They even may refer to us as the "Feelings Teachers!" Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
