Irving Families

We wanted to start by sharing a note from Ms. Z:

Thank you to our students, families, staff, and community for the kindness, thoughtfulness, and generosity you have shown me during Assistant Principal Appreciation Week. The notes, flowers, and snacks were truly appreciated. You went above and beyond and made me feel so special. It is an honor to work at Irving and serve this incredible community.
– Ms. Ziegler

We are so lucky to have Ms. Z at Irving, and it was great to see our community come together to celebrate her in such a meaningful way.

Looking ahead to next week, we have a few great opportunities to connect as a school community:

  • McTeacher Night will take place on Wednesday from 3:30–6:30 PM at the McDonald’s near school. Our staff will be there serving and celebrating while raising funds for our PTO—please consider stopping by!
  • D100 will host its Annual Wellness Fair on Tuesday, April 14th from 5:00–7:00 PM at Heritage Middle School.
  • Heritage Wonderland will be held next Thursday, April 16th at Heritage Middle School. It sounds like a fun evening for families, and we hope to see many of you there.
  • Parent World Café will take place on Saturday, April 18th at Heritage Middle School. Families can attend a Spanish session from 9:00–11:00 AM or an English session from 12:00–2:00 PM. Childcare (for school-aged children), along with light breakfast and lunch, will be provided. Register here for this event.

Looking ahead, on Saturday, April 25th, Irving will be celebrating Earth Day as a community. We’ll spend time cleaning up around the school, doing crafts, and our PTO will be hosting a clothing swap for the community.

Starting Monday, families can begin dropping off gently used clothing donations in the bin located in the front office. Donations will be collected over the next two weeks.

The clothing drive and swap will also need volunteers to help run it. If you’re interested in volunteering, please sign up HERE.

We hope you’re able to join us for one (or more!) of these events.

PBIS Booster - Lifting Each Other UP with Kindness 🎈 PBIS Booster - Lifting Each Other UP with Kindness 🎈

In recognition of Disability Awareness Month, we are launching a schoolwide PBIS booster focused on kindness and inclusion. Our theme, “Lifting Each Other UP with Kindness,” is inspired by the movie UP and centers on celebrating the ways our students support and uplift one another each day.

Each classroom will have a “house” displayed near the recess doors, and throughout the booster (April 13–May 1), classes will earn balloons for demonstrating acts of kindness. These might include including others in games, helping a classmate without being asked, or using kind words and gestures that make a positive impact.

As classes earn balloons, they’ll add them above their house—watching their kindness lift them higher throughout the month!

Goal:
Classrooms that collect at least 12 balloons will earn an extra recess at a time chosen by their teacher.

We’re excited to highlight and celebrate the many ways our students show kindness and inclusion. Thank you for your continued support in reinforcing these important values at home as well.
