Message from the Principal
At Pine Avenue, we are grateful for the strong partnership we share with our families, and we truly value the ways parents support their children’s learning every day. We also want to celebrate the incredible 96% family turnout at our Parent–Student Open House. This level of engagement shows just how much our parents care, and it sends a powerful message to students that their education is a priority. Your involvement strengthens our school community and helps us build the kind of partnership that truly changes student trajectories.
As students mature, their role in their own learning becomes increasingly important. Building responsibility, completing assignments, and staying engaged are skills that help them succeed not only in school, but throughout life. Families play a powerful part in reinforcing these habits at home, and your support makes a tremendous difference. When school and home work together, students experience consistency, confidence, and a clear message that their learning matters.
Looking ahead, we are excited for Parent–Teacher Conferences in October, where teachers will share each student’s current progress, assessment scores, and personalized goals for the 2026–2027 school year. These conversations allow us to celebrate growth, discuss learning needs, and work together to support every child’s success. Conferences are a powerful reminder that students have a full team behind them — teachers, families, and the students themselves — all working together to help them reach their goals.
We are proud of the partnership we have with our Pine Avenue families, and we remain committed to supporting every child with care, high expectations, and a team approach. Thank you for all you do — your involvement truly strengthens our school community.
Together, we can help every student catch up, keep up, and move up.
Your partner in education,
Dr. Konowalow

Pine Avenue Highlights
This week, Pine Avenue teachers and staff celebrated our students and the importance of being at school with a fun and energetic Attend‑Dance. For two five‑minute periods, students, teachers, and staff filled the hallway to show off their best dance moves and celebrate the power of showing up, being present, and learning together.
Fourth and fifth graders also honored Constitution Day with special classroom lessons focused on the history and meaning of this foundational document. Students explored the purpose of the Constitution and discussed how it continues to shape our country today. Featured in this week’s highlights is a collaborative project between DLPMS and Pine Avenue fourth grade classrooms, where students worked together to create a visual representation of the Preamble to the United States Constitution—a wonderful example of cross‑school learning and civic engagement.
