A Message from Mr. Demers A Message from Mr. Demers

Dear DRRHS Families,

The floors are waxed, classrooms are coming back to life, and there is that unmistakable feeling of a new school year beginning here at 2700 Regional Road! We are incredibly excited to welcome our students back to campus and officially begin the 2026–2027 school year.

At DRRHS, our work continues to center on our mission to Empower, Ignite, and Shape every student who walks through our doors. Whether through academics, athletics, the arts, CTE, clubs, leadership opportunities, or the many supports available to students, we remain committed to making sure that there is something for everyone at DRRHS.

As we get closer to the first day of school, here are a few important reminders:

First Day Reminders

  • School Start Time: Classes begin promptly at 7:17 AM. Please make sure students arrive with enough time to get settled and be ready for their first-period class.
  • The First Few Weeks: The beginning of the school year is all about learning new routines, reconnecting with classmates and staff, and getting comfortable with new schedules. We know that transition can take a little time, particularly for our incoming freshmen and students who are new to DRRHS, and our staff will be there to help along the way. This is especially true for the Class of 2030, we are so excited for you all to join us this year!
  • Schedule Modifications: If there is a concern regarding a full-year core academic class, families should reach out directly to their child’s guidance counselor. We do ask students to spend some time experiencing the electives they selected before requesting a change, elective changes can be requested starting on September 12th. Additional information regarding elective schedule modifications can be discussed by reaching out to your child's guidance counselor.

Most importantly, if your student experiences any non-schedule-related concerns or challenges as we begin the year, please do not hesitate to reach out to our administrative team. This year, our assistant principal roles have been structured to provide students and families with clear areas of support:

Ms. Ashley Johnson – Assistant Principal of Student Life
Ms. Johnson will oversee student discipline, peer and social concerns, and other aspects of the day-to-day student experience, along with MCAS testing and 504 coordination. She will also oversee attendance for students in grades 11 and 12. She can be contacted directly at ajohnson@drregional.org

Dr. Victoria Amaral – Assistant Principal of Student Achievement
Dr. Amaral will focus on academic success and student support, including our Student Support Team (SST), academic interventions, AP testing, and related programming. She will also oversee attendance for students in grades 9 and 10. She can be contacted directly at vamaral@drregional.org

For any other questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me directly at ddemers@drregional.org.

We are looking forward to another outstanding year at DRRHS and cannot wait to have our Falcons back in the building. Our goal is to make 2026–2027 a year where every student feels connected, challenged, supported, and excited to be part of this school community. Together, we will continue to Empower, Ignite, and Shape our students while reminding them every day that at DRRHS, there truly is something for everyone.

With Falcon Pride,

Dustin Demers
Principal, DRRHS

    Important Policies Important Policies

    Attendance Policy

For student discipline purposes, an unexcused absence will constitute 1 attendance infraction; 2 unexcused tardies or dismissals, or any combination thereof, will constitute 1 attendance infraction.

On a day when a student has an unexcused absence, the student is ineligible to participate in a school-sponsored event, including athletics, on that day.

5 attendance infractions in a term will result in Saturday School.
Until the assigned Saturday School obligation is met, a student is not eligible to participate in extracurricular activities, including athletics. Additionally, if a Saturday School is assigned for disciplinary purposes and the student does not attend, they may also be subject to further disciplinary action, including but not limited to suspension from school.

Students who are tardy will NOT be permitted to bring food or drink purchased outside of school into the building.

Students with driving permits who exhibit persistent and/or excessive tardiness (more than 8 in a semester) to school will lose their driving privilege.

    Cell Phone Policy

The term “electronic devices,” includes but is not limited to cell phones, iPads/tablets, laptops/computers (other than those issued by the District), electronic/smart devices, and headphones/airpods. The expectation is that these personal devices remain off and away during the school day. Staff may require students to store phones in a centralized location. The only exception is at the high school, where students are permitted to use their phones during transition time in the hallway between classes and during lunch. High school students are not allowed to use their phones during class time, or when out of the classroom during class time (i.e., bathroom breaks). Students remain solely responsible for any loss or damage to any electronic devices used or brought onto school property. Use of electronic devices at school are subject to the District’s Acceptable Use Policy and any applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to M.G.L. c. 272, sec. 99, which is sometimes known as the Massachusetts Wiretapping Law.

Cell phone usage is not permitted bell to bell (beginning of a period until the end of a period). Students will be required to place their cell phones in a designated location at the beginning of each period. However, students are still permitted to use their cell phones during passing periods and lunch.

    Consequences for cell phone violations:
1st offense: Confiscation for the day

    2nd offense: Saturday School

3rd offense: Confiscation each day for the remainder of the quarter

This policy shall remain in effect until state law and/or school committee policy changes.

    Standardized Testing Standardized Testing

August and Fall SATs now open to register!

SAT® registration is now open for fall 2026. Many colleges require or consider SAT scores as part of their holistic admission and placement decisions, and your score is a great way to show colleges you’re ready. This year, it will be more convenient to take the SAT on your schedule, with dates available every month through the end of the year, beginning in August, and the ability to join the Waitlist if the date or test center you prefer is already filled.

Most juniors take their first SAT in the spring, and many take it again in the fall of their senior year to improve their score. The SAT can help you keep your college options open, demonstrate your unique strengths, and even qualify for scholarships. And with 100% free practice resources, now including enhanced tailored practice based on your prior test scores and free small-group tutoring, you’ll have everything you need to get prepared.
