Mr Young's Reflection of the Week
Welcome to our first 6th Form newsletter! It has been a very busy first term so far with our Year 12 students settling into 6th Form life and Year 13 preparing their university applications.
As the pinnacle of the Academy, we have high expectations of our 6th Form students to be the role models of the school. It has been wonderful to see the new Year 12 step up to that responsibility and, as you will see below, we have an amazing team of house Captains who, as I write, are busy organising our first House Charity event.
It makes me very proud to see them demonstrating those LEARN values which are the foundations of everything we do.
Enrichment
Students at OAE have a fantastic range of enrichment opportunities to develop their skills and have fun! Below we have Year 12 and 13 students learning how to cook healthy, cost-effective meals, great preparation for university life. Equipping our students with essential life skills is a key part of ensuring they’re ready for the next chapter!
Sixth Form House Captains
Student Note
A Student’s Point of View-picture of Aiden Badham
Aiden is studying psychology, history and criminology and is one of our House Captains. An interesting thing about me is that I’ve been learning to play bass guitar for 2 years and I am a member of the school band.
When it came to deciding where to continue with my education, Oasis Academy Enfield sixth form particularly stood out to me because of the supportive community of teachers and students here. I was lucky to be a part of that community during my secondary school experience here.
Also, Oasis Academy Enfield had a wide range of A-Level choices which perfectly matched my interests, it felt like the perfect place to help me grow academically and personally. I applied to be a house captain because I wanted to give back to the community which helped me develop throughout secondary school. I also believe that I can contribute by organising events, fostering team spirit and being a supportive, helpful leader to my peers.
My overall aim is to make sure everyone in our house feels heard, valued and included. Looking ahead, I hope to get good A-Level grades and go on to study criminal law at university and eventually work as a criminal barrister. I’m confident that my experience at Oasis Academy Enfield will help me prepare for the challenges ahead.
Sixth Form Book of the Week
Alex’s adventures in Numberland, by Alex Bellos
This week it is Alex’s adventures in Numberland. In this richly entertaining and accessible book, Alex Bellos explodes the myth that maths is best left to the geeks and demonstrates the remarkable ways it's linked to our everyday lives.
Enjoy!

Our Community Expectations
At OAE we embody our expectations in everything we do. We do this through our behaviours and attitudes, modelling to the young people at OAE and expecting to see the same high standards from them.
Attendance
Meet the team
This newsletter, we are showcasing Mr Ozbek, our Physics specialist and Head of Science. We thought it would be a great idea to share each newsletter the opportunity to get to know our dedicated and excellent staff who work with our 6th Form students. Each update will include a little ‘biog’ and why they are so passionate about their subject.
Careers News
As part of our commitment to providing our students with all the knowledge, advice and guidance they need to make informed decisions about their future careers, we have had a busy term.
Two stand out events were the visit of Iwona Blazwick, an Art Curator who came in to speak with our Yr 12 and GCSE Art students about careers in the Art industry. It was fascinating to learn about the variety of careers available and we also had the opportunity to engage with the diverse and inspirational art of YINKA SHONIBARE. We also took our entire 6th Form to the University and Apprenticeship Fair at Tottenham stadium. This gave students the chance to speak with over 120 exhibiting universities and apprenticeship providers, including Russell Group, red brick and modern institutions, as well as national and local apprenticeship providers and colleges.
The fair also featured a wide range of vital seminars including: “UCAS Personal Statement & Application Advice”, “Why take an Apprenticeship”, “Choosing a University Course”, “Higher and Degree Apprenticeships” and “Student Finance”.

Our Ethos at Oasis Academy Enfield
Our ethos is rooted in what we believe and who we are. Grounded in our story, it is an expression of our character; a set of values that inform and provide the lens on everything we do.
- A passion to include
- A desire to treat people equally respecting differences
- A commitment to healthy, open relationships
- A deep sense of hope that things can change and be transformed
- A sense of perseverance to keep going for the long haul
It is these ethos values that we want to be known for and to live by. We are committed to a model of inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope, and perseverance throughout all the aspects of the life and culture of every Oasis Hub and academy community.
We encourage every member of our family, be that staff or student, to align themselves to these ethos values. The values themselves are inspired by the life, message and example of Jesus but we make it clear that we will not impose on anyone, the beliefs that underpin our ethos values. We recognise and celebrate the richness that spiritual and cultural diversity brings to our community, respecting the beliefs and practices of other faiths in the hope that we will provide a welcoming environment for all.
