Our Lady of Good Counsel School
Term 3 Week 8 Newsletter
The month of May ~ dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Mary has a unique and privileged place in salvation history and in the Church. Because she responded yes to becoming the Mother of God, she is our first model of discipleship and our model of grace and trust in God.
Among Catholics, May is most well-known as “Mary’s Month,” a specific month of the year when special devotions are performed in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Rosary is said.
Dear Families,
Thank you to everyone involved in making last week's 60th Anniversary celebrations such a wonderful success. It was humbling to meet with the many ex-staff, alumni, past principals and priests and hear about the contributions they all made to OLGC during their time here, and understand the role each one has played in making our school what it is today.
Special thanks are extended to the following people:
Father Bernard and Father Nicholas - for leading us in the beautiful Eucharistic celebration.
Terri Benedetti & Liana Benedetti-Cousins - for the donation of cupcakes, formed in '60' which were enjoyed by all OLGC students.
Issy Quesnel (nee Rawlings) - for her donation of our 60th Anniversary celebratory cake.
Josephine Germano - for her organisation and coordination of the student cut-outs
Stuart Aubrey MLA - for his financial donation towards the student cut-outs
Mary Bizzaca & Doug Davies (Past Principals) - bringing forward the offertory gifts at mass
Lina Bertolini, Sr Anita, Liana Benedetti-Cousins, Lillian Monastra, Solonge Italiano, Ori Kavanagh, Josephine Germano, Jessica Mirabile, & Angus Hunter - for their involvement in reading or the entrance procession at Mass
Harvey Costantino, Elle Mullholland, Michael Strong, Chloe Coppolina, Evander Di Lena, Grace King & Samuel O'Sullivan - for leading us in the Prayers of the Faithful
Newman College - for the loan of the pin-up boards for our Archive display
Sacred Heart College - for the loan of the mannequins for our Uniform Archives display.
Staff & Students - for the beautiful projects undertaken for the 60th Anniversary
Parent Representatives - for their organisation and co-ordination of the Feast Day Fair Stalls.
The whole day was wonderful because of the collective efficacy of all involved. It made me extremely proud to lead this wonderful school community, and I look forward to the many amazing things that will be achieved at OLGC into the future.

Second hand Uniforms – Facebook: OLGC Uniforms – Sale or Swap page
Kids just grow so fast! Do you have outgrown uniforms that could benefit another family? Maybe you're hunting for a spare polo shirt or some extra buttons?
Here at OLGC we have a second-hand uniform sale or swap page on Facebook. This is a closed group for the OLGC families who wish to sell, swap, or provide free uniforms to our school community.
To join simply click here or search on Facebook for "OLGC Uniforms – Sale or Swap".
It is important that all sales and swaps are done without consuming the precious resources of the school. Please contact each other directly and don't ask the office to hold items awaiting pick up.
Please contact the group administrator with any questions - Terri-Ann Shilcock - jtashilcock@gmail.com.
