Kegonsa Family Newsletter
2024 - 2025
May 2, 2025
Happy Friday, Families!
We’ve wrapped up another exciting week at Kegonsa, and there’s so much to celebrate! On Tuesday, some of our brightest 5th and 6th graders represented us at the Regional Math Meet, competing against eight other schools. We’re thrilled to share that our two teams earned 1st and 3rd place—what an amazing accomplishment! We are so proud of their hard work, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Although we had a bit of a washout midweek, the skies are clearing, and we’re looking forward to a dry and sunny weekend—a perfect chance to recharge and enjoy some outdoor fun. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week at Kegonsa. We’re excited to honor our incredible team. While not everyone here holds a teaching license, every adult in our building is a teacher—inspiring, guiding, and learning alongside our students every day. We are so grateful for the dedicated, caring adults who make our school feel like home.
And speaking of appreciation, don’t forget to redeem your vouchers for the School Appreciation Madison Mallards Game. It’s a great way to connect as a school community and enjoy a night at the ballpark!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend! 💙 Erin

Field Day is Coming – Volunteers Needed!
We’re gearing up for one of the most exciting days of the year—Kegonsa Field Day! This fun-filled event will take place on June 6th, and we’d love for our families to be a part of the action.
There are two separate volunteer sign-ups: one for Grades K–2 and another for Grades 3–5. We’re looking for volunteers to help run activity stations while cheering on students to help make this day unforgettable. No experience needed—just bring your energy and enthusiasm as all instructions will be provided by school staff!
As a bonus, our Family Picnic will also take place on Field Day, so it’s a perfect opportunity to spend some time at school and enjoy the day with your child. More information on the Family Picnic is coming soon!

Thank you for helping us make this day amazing for our students!
Exciting things are happening for our Kegonsa Artists next Wednesday!
On May 7th, the very talented, Nancy Platner, will be visiting Kegonsa and painting windows with all of our students! You’ve seen her amazing window painting skills at Fosdal’s and plenty of other places in Stoughton.
She will spend the afternoon with us outside painting our back windows! Every grade will get a chance to paint alongside her and by the end of the day Kegonsa will have our very own beautifully painted windows!
**Please send your student to school that day in clothes you won’t mind getting paint on :) I have smocks, but not enough for a whole grade to wear at once. I can’t wait for you all to see the results!
Shining Gilly Award Winners!
What is the Shining Gilly Award?
The Shining Gilly Award recognizes students who go above and beyond to show exceptional care for others or our school. These students exemplify the qualities we strive to nurture in all of our little citizens—kindness, responsibility, and a positive impact on their community. Whether it's an individual or a group of students, those who receive this award truly reflect the values we hold dear at our school.
Congratulations to Charlotte (3rd) and Kaitlyn (4th) 🥳
