Week of June 16th
This week in our classes!
Spanish Language and Culture (Mr. Fontalvo, Ms. Gonzalez)
Last week in Spanish class, our students continued developing their language skills by learning how to conjugate regular verbs in the present tense. They also took a listening formative assessment to practice their comprehension skills. Next week, we will build on this foundation by learning how to ask and answer questions about extracurricular activities. Students will use verb conjugations in meaningful contexts to practice their speaking and writing in Spanish. We're excited to see their continued growth!
Spanish I (Mr. Donaldson, Ms. Cuffee)
The last week will be a celebration of all students' hard work throughout the term. There will be a class party to celebrate, along with final activities and a Kahoot review of everything covered.
No more SpanishDict.com homework for the rest of the year.
Spanish II (Ms. Wooten, Ms. Henderson)
Congratulations
on an AMAZING 8th grade year. This week we finished our book, reflected on the year, and did some celebratory activities! Students also received a printed copy of their STAMP reports, so please make sure to ask to see them! If your high school requires a digital copy of the report, please just email your teacher and we can forward them along. Have an amazing summer and please come back to visit!
Spanish Humanities, grade 6 (Ms. Balestra)

¡Qué manera fantástica de concluir con nuestro estudio de poesía!
Spanish Humanities, grade 7 (Ms. Henderson)
This week, students completed their final Spanish exam of the year- please check Aspen for updates. On the exam, they analyzed the major themes of the novel and how the author uses characters and figurative language to develop those themes. Next week, we’ll continue reading, though we will condense the remaining chapters to ensure we finish the book on time.
Esta semana, los estudiantes terminaron su último examen de español del año—revise Aspen para ver las calificaciones. En el examen, analizaron los temas principales de la novela y cómo el autor utiliza a los personajes y el lenguaje figurado para desarrollarlos. La próxima semana continuaremos con la lectura, aunque vamos a resumir algunos capítulos para terminar a tiempo.

Grade 6
Last week, our Grade 6 students were excited to begin a brand-new unit on Chinese Food and Drinks. To kick things off, we held a fun and delicious boba tea party in class on Thursday! Students will continue exploring popular dishes, food-related vocabulary, and cultural dining customs. Next week, we will wrap up the school year with more speaking and reading practice.
Wishing all our Grade 6 families a joyful and restful summer break!
Grade 7
Last week, our Grade 7 students successfully completed their summative assessments on Monday and Wednesday. To celebrate the end of the unit and June birthdays, we held a cheerful class party on Thursday. Next week, students will get a sneak peek into Grade 8 vocabulary and themes as they begin an introductory activity for next year’s curriculum. Wishing all our Grade 7 families a joyful and restful summer break!
Grade 8
Our Grade 8 students kicked off a new unit on Birthday Celebrations last week. Students were introduced to vocabulary, traditions, and cultural practices related to birthdays in Chinese-speaking communities. On Thursday, we even celebrated our teacher’s birthday together in class!
As we wrap up the year, students will continue to explore cultural comparisons and build conversational confidence.
Congratulations to our 8th graders on their promotion! We wish you all the best in your future adventures—enjoy your summer!
