April 2026 Newsletter
Principal's Message
Dear Allenwood Elementary School Families,
As we move into the spring season, we are excited to welcome warmer weather and more opportunities for outdoor activities. We plan to be outside for recess as much as possible; however, we may still experience some cooler days. Please be sure to send your child to school with an appropriate jacket when needed so they can remain comfortable while enjoying time outdoors.
I am also proud to share that our staff and students have been working together to support Autism Awareness by creating special keychains (see flyer below). These keychains will be available for purchase for $1.00, and all proceeds will be donated to POAC Autism Services. We appreciate your support in helping us promote awareness and give back to such a meaningful cause.
I also want to thank our Allenwood community for raising an incredible $15,363.00 for the American Heart Association. Allenwood's collective efforts will have a lasting impact, helping fund vital research, education, and advocacy programs that support heart health for all.
Please take note of the following upcoming events:
April 3–12: Spring Break
April 14: 5th Grade Visit to WIS
April 17: Fun and Fitness Day at WIS (Rain Date: April 20)

WTPS Appoints Dr. David Bleakley as New Superintendent of Schools
As you are aware, Dr. Handerhan announced back in the fall that she will be retiring at the end of this school year. Since then, the Wall Township Board of Education has been actively engaged in the search for a new Superintendent of Schools. At last night’s Board of Education Meeting, the Board of Education appointed Dr. David Bleakley as the next WTPS Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1, 2026. Dr. Bleakley brings with him over 20 years of educational experience, and the Board of Education is thrilled to welcome him to the District.
