School Counselor Update:
Mrs. Seckinger is extending her leave and will not be returning for the second half of the school year. Ms. Alfieri will be taking over as our school counselor starting January 28th.
Please read the message from Ms. Alfieri below.
Dear Gayman Elementary School Families,
My name is Mallory Alfieri, and I am honored to serve as the long-term substitute School Counselor at Gayman for the rest of the school year. I am committed to supporting your child's emotional, social, and academic development throughout their time here. I believe that a strong partnership between home and school is key to student success, and I am here to help in any way I can!
My role as a school counselor is to provide guidance and support to students as they navigate the various challenges they may face during their educational journey. I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where every child feels seen, valued, and capable of success. I work with students both individually and in small groups on a variety of social, emotional, and academic needs—whether that’s conflict resolution, managing emotions, strengthening friendships, or building confidence.
Additionally, I collaborate with teachers and parents to create strategies that support each child’s unique strengths and challenges. My focus is on fostering positive social skills, teaching healthy ways to solve problems, and encouraging strong character. Above all, my goal is to help students recognize their potential, build resilience, and feel empowered to be their best selves both inside and outside of the classroom.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email at maalfieri@cbsd.org or by phone at 267-893-4353 I am eager to get to know your child and work together to create a nurturing and successful school experience.
Here's to a fantastic rest of the school year filled with growth, achievement, and memorable moments for your child!
Warm regards,
Mallory Alfieri
Friday, January 30th Spirit Day!!!
Cell Phone & Smart Watches Reminders:
Per the CBSD Board Policy, the use of student cell phones and smart watches is prohibited in school. If these devices are brought to school, they are to be slienced and remain in backpacks during the school day.
Please review these expectations with your child as this policy will be enforced by teachers and staff.
Sock Roll Challenge:
Kindergarten and 3rd Grade are collecting adult socks, granola bars, and individual cracker packs for The Giving Tree’s “Sock Roll Challenge” in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. We are hoping to create as many sock rolls as possible to help our neighbors in need! Collection boxes will be in the lobby from January 12th-23rd. Thank you in advance for supporting our community service project!
Winter Weather Reminders:
As temperatures drop, we want to remind all parents and guardians about the importance of dressing children warmly for school. The district uses a weather watch chart to determine if we can be outside for recess and the length of time we can be out for. We attempt to go outside for recess as long as the chart determines it is safe for the kids to be outside.
Children should come to school prepared with warm winter clothing, including a heavy coat, gloves, a hat, and other appropriate layers.
Label... Label... Label...
As we are now into Winter and more of our students are wearing jackets and other outside winter gear, please consider labeling your child's things with his/her name.
Our "Lost and Found" area is adding sweatshirts, jackets, and hats, every day. Encourage your child to check for their missing items.
2-Hour Delay for Snow:
As we are now into the winter season...
If there is inclement weather in our forecast, then there may be a 2-hour delay. Should that occur, please plan for the following schedule:
- Grades 1-6: 10:35AM - 3:15PM
- AM Kindergarten: 10:35AM - 12:20PM
- PM Kindergarten: 1:30PM - 3:15PM
The district is continuing to offer free breakfast.
The lunch cost for the 2025-2026 school year is: $2.85
Don't forget to sign up for MySchoolBucks to add money to your student's lunch account.

CBSD utilizes the online platform MySchoolBucks for school meal payments, making it easy to oversee a child's meal choices and maintain their account balance. It is important that an account is created for every student, regardless of whether they take part in school meals or not. You can access MySchoolBucks to view and/or set up an account for your student(s) here. To set up an account, you will need your child(ren)'s student identification number(s), which can be found in the Parent Portal.
