Hello Homestead Families,
We have an important announcement to share with our Homestead community. At the end of the 2026 school year, Ms. Pedrett and Mrs. Cabibi will be retiring after extraordinary careers in education—Ms. Pedrett after 31 years and Mrs. Cabibi after 30 years. Throughout those years, they have cared for, supported, and inspired countless students, leaving a lasting mark on our school and community. We are deeply grateful for the dedication and heart they have given to Homestead. In May, we will celebrate their incredible careers with a community gathering—more information will be shared soon.
Last week, students engaged in a variety of fun activities. Photos this week include 3rd grade's Metric Olympics where students made estimates and actual measurements using metric units doing a variety of modified olympic events. 2nd graders read the book "My Dog is as Smelly as Dirty Socks" then wrote similes that described themselves. Students then took those similes and artistically integrated them into a creative self-portrait. 5th grade masks, made in art class, are in the display case by the library. The attention to detail is incredible! If you can, check out their beautiful work.
This week, we have our Spring Lockdown drill on Monday afternoon. Student council planned a school wide Lights Out, (dress in all black day) on Friday, and students are welcome to bring a stuffy to school to celebrate Cherry Creek Reads week with our school wide 60 minutes of reading. More information about Reads Week is below.

Annual Cherry Creek Reads March 9-13!
The students will be reading All the Stars in the Sky by Art Coulson on Monday March 9th. On Friday morning March 13th, students will read for 60 minutes. They are welcome to bring a book from home, or borrow one from the classroom or library. Students are welcome to bring a stuffy to get nice and cozy. We are hoping to grow the love of reading for all students and encourage them to read more often.

Second Grade Musical
Coming to a stage near you, the annual Second Grade Musical, Thursday March 12th at 6:30PM in the Homestead Gym!
The theme this year is Celebrate Happy! and the kids will be celebrating Disneyland's 70th birthday with Disney themed songs.
The doors will open at 6:00PM and second grade students will go to their classroom to get ready for the musical.
The students can wear Disney themed clothes or dress up as a Disney character. If they do not want to dress up that is ok too, but please wear solid colors.
If your child would like to practice at home, they can sing along to these videos at home.

CCSD Elementary Art Show
Congratulations to the following students whose art is on display at the CCSD Elementary Art Show! The show is up at Koelbel Library in Centennial March 6-28th. A reception will be held on March 28 from 1-3pm. Students will get to take their work home after this event.

A note about 3-D artwork display and selections for district art shows:
It is that time of year when many students are working in three dimensions. Display space is significantly limited, which means not every student’s 3-D artwork will be shown. In addition, we are celebrating some students who have work in the district art show. Your child might feel disappointed if their work is not on display. This is an opportunity to help your child learn how to process disappointment. Your child is a wonderful artist and perhaps their artwork will be selected in the future.
One Hub for All School Expenses: MySchoolBucks
We are excited to share that we are expanding our use of MySchoolBucks to provide a more convenient way for families to handle school costs.
You likely already use this platform to add snack money to your student's lunch account. Beginning after spring break, you can use that same login to take care of other items, such as:
- Lost library book fees
- Club or Grade Level t-shirt sales
- Other school-related fees
What You Need to Do:
- Existing Users: Simply log in as usual. You will see these new options available in the "School Store" or "Invoices" section.
- New Users: If you don't have an account yet, please create a free account today. Having your login ready now will ensure a quick and easy checkout for upcoming sales.

2026/2027 PTCO Executive Board
It’s time to vote for the 2026/2027 PTCO Executive Board. Please cast your vote by clicking the link below or scanning the QR code. Voting will be open Friday, February 27th - Friday, March 13th. Inside Out Summer Enrichment Program
The Inside Out summer enrichment program, sponsored by the Office of Neurodiverse Student Services, offers students a learning environment that fosters critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and effective communication skills. Inside Out offers classes with options for half-day or full-day for one or two weeks during June 2026. Registration opens March 23rd and closes April 20th. ATTENTION: All Volunteers at Homestead
Colorado legislation has prompted greater need to screen and document volunteers in our schools. As of January 2022, we began asking every volunteer to complete a brief application to support activities in CCSD schools.
If you are currently volunteering or plan to volunteer in the future, please complete the CCSD online volunteer form. To access the form, click on the following link: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NzU0OmVuLVVT or scan the QR code. It should only take a few minutes to complete and you will only need to complete this form once a year to meet the requirements to volunteer in all CCSD buildings.
Please note: if you completed this application more than one year ago, it is time to do it again!
