Principal's Newsletter
July 17, 2025
Dear Onahan Community,
Summer is slipping away fast! Don't look at the aisles when shopping or you will see Back to School items, and maybe even Halloween candy! 🙂
- If your family has moved and are planning to send your child to another school, please send our clerk, Kathy McNamara, an email. kmcnamara@cps.edu.
- At the bottom of the newsletter, you should see a section with important dates. I have added "Essential Parent Meeting and Ice Cream Social" with two sessions for August 27th. We don't want to say this event is "mandatory", but this is important time for your child's teacher to communicate what is being taught, details about the school day and to answer questions you may have as the new academic year kicks off. We are starting the year with a new reading and writing (ELA) curriculum and this is a good time to hear the details. HMH is the publisher and it is Into Reading for K-5 and Into Literature for 6th-8th.
- Be sure to visit our new and improved website at onahanschool.org for the latest news, resources, and back-to-school information. Also, give us some grace until staff are back to update their profiles.
- Office hours for summer will be the following: Tuesday-Thursday, 8:00 am-12:00 pm, or by appointment on other days. (773) 534-1180.

HELP GET THE WORD OUT
We need incoming kindergarten students to register ASAP so that we have the proper staffing and resources. This goes for all grades, but especially kindergarten. Thank you in advance!

HARRISON'S HELPERS
Harrison's Helpers is back for our 4th Breakthrough T1D One Walk in September, and we're really excited to announce our 2nd Annual Strike Out T1D bowling fundraiser on Saturday, August 9th. Please mark your calendars and save the date for Strike Out T1D. The details are in the attached flyer.
We look forward to your continued support as we do everything we can to fundraise for a cure for type 1 diabetes!!
We'd love to grow our walk team, and show up at Montrose Harbor on Sunday, September 28 with a sea of purple shirts. Harrison enjoys the One Walk as it is a time to celebrate him and experience the support of the Breakthrough T1D Community and our family community. We hope to see you out there!!
If you're unable to join us for Strike Out T1D or the One Walk, please consider donating and sharing with your network! We appreciate you!
