Dear Westlake Elementary Families,

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to our four Odyssey of the Mind teams who competed in the state tournament this past weekend! One of our teams earned an impressive 2nd place finish and has been invited to the World Odyssey competition in May—what an incredible accomplishment! We are so proud of our Wizards and wish our advancing team the very best of luck as they head to Worlds!

Just a quick reminder to please check the Lost and Found if your child is missing any jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, or lunch containers. Our collection is growing, and any unclaimed items will be donated soon. Thank you for taking a moment to look! All of it will be bagged up and donated over spring break.

Please read below for all of the upcoming events and activities.

With Wizard Pride,
Mrs. Terri Culpepper
Principal, Westlake Elementary

On behalf of student council, we are so excited to share a special project with you!

This year, we worked together to raise money through our Gobble Grams and Candy Grams. We wanted to use those funds to do something meaningful that would last for years to come. With the money we raised, we are proud to donate a Little Free Library to Westlake Elementary! It is located in the front of the school, next to the rabbit. This library is a way for everyone in our school community to enjoy books. Our goal is to spread the joy of reading and give back to our school in a positive way!

This Little Free Library works on a simple idea: take a book leave a book. You can borrow a story, share one you love, and help keep the library full for others. We hope it brings happiness, learning and love of reading to everyone! The Little Free Library donated by Student Council is officially open!

Please remember that all absences must be phoned in to our attendance line, via a recorded message at: 805-494-0324

Be sure to state the date and reason for your child’s absence or late arrival, and your child’s teacher or room number. Any unexcused absence is counted as truancy. Students are allowed only three truancies per year before action is taken. Planning ahead with your child will also help to avoid unnecessary tardiness.

Students who arrive on time feel better about school and perform better in the classroom.

Lunch Program Lunch Program

All Conejo Valley Unified School District Students will receive FREE breakfast and lunch meals again for the school year 2024-25! Free meals are available for students at every district school during regular meal serving hours.

Although all students will receive meals at no charge again this school year it is very important for parents or guardians, to complete and submit an application for free or reduced meals as soon as possible.

Visit https://conejo.vcoe.org/fsonline/Main/Login to complete the application online . For first-time applicants, it's recommended to use a desktop computer to set up your profile. If your student is found eligible to receive meal benefits it might also qualify your family for discounts on gas, electricity, cell phone or cable service, and a waiver to take the SAT and ACT tests.

PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE SCHOOL SITE AND DISTRICT OFFICE.
