Weekly Update

Dear Elmore School Families,

We had a nice, short week back following our Thanksgiving Break. While there are still officially a couple more weeks until winter arrives, the weather has certainly taken us into the winter. This week brought cold temperatures, and a few of snowy days. When the sun does make an appearance it sure does look sparkly and bright out side!

This week students completed their final drafts of their opinion writing. I have seen so much growth already this year! This week phonics lessons included ending blends for the first graders, the next level worked on open / closed syllables, while the third level focused on long i spellings with ie (pie) and igh (bright). Lastly the fourth level explored multi meaning words (homophones) such as assistance and assistants.

In Math first and second graders are solving representing and solving different types of story problems, while third graders learned about using different sized units to measure the area of different types of things, and how the units used affects the overall area.

During art this week we read a book about Snowflake Bentley, then students constructed snowflakes using popsicle sticks and wooden shapes. Kids who finished early had fun mading paper snowflakes.

This week we also began planning for our Secret Pal, which is one of our favorite things about the Elmore School! Over the course of the next two weeks our classroom will become more of a workshop where students will be crafting, and building , and creating a thoughtful gift which they will give to their secret pal. Part of the fun is the "secret" ! This year we have some pretty amazing projects planned! If you have extra time and would like to volunteer to help with projects in the classroom over the next couple of weeks, please reach out. We will generally be working on projects each day between 10 - 11:30, but may also do some from 2- 2:45 some days.

Many thanks to everyone for coming out to meet with me for a conference. It is always nice to connect with parents and share student progress and accomplishments.

In your child's Friday folder please find and 2025-2026 Household Income Form ( and letter form Superintendent Heraty:

Dear Lamoille South Families,

As you may have heard, the governor has projected a 12% tax rate increase across the state. One way we can protect our tax rate is through completion of our household income form. Our state data indicates that many families have not completed the form. The impact of this could lead to both districts facing a significant tax rate increase and our schools losing a great deal of funding.

Due to the serious nature of this situation, we are moving back to the paper version of this form to get 100% completion. This is sensitive information and we would not ask you to complete this unless it was critical for our students. Many families will have already completed the electronic form and we still need the paper version.

The form will be coming home via your student and will also be available at parent conferences on Thursday and Friday. You can either send the form back in the envelope provided or turn the form in directly to the main office of your child's school.

Please return this form by December 10, 2025. We need 100% completion of this process to protect our funding and the quality of your child’s education.
