From the Principal's Desk
As we head into spring break, I want to take a moment to thank our students, staff, and families for their continued hard work and commitment throughout this busy stretch of the school year. The weeks leading up to this break have been filled with meaningful learning, strong effort, and a great sense of school pride.
Spring break is a well-earned opportunity for everyone to rest, recharge, and spend time with family and friends. I encourage our students to take advantage of this time to relax and return refreshed, ready to finish the year strong. When we return, we will quickly shift our focus toward the final marking period, end-of-year activities, and upcoming state assessments.
Have a safe, enjoyable, and restful spring break. Break begins on Friday, April 3, and we return to school on Monday, April 13. We look forward to welcoming everyone back reenergized and ready for a strong finish to the school year.

Red Raider Artists Shine at Teen Arts
We are proud to recognize Henry Sloan and Coral Lopez for being honored at this year’s Teen Arts Festival! Their creativity, dedication, and passion for the arts were on full display as they represented Keyport High School with excellence. In addition to their recognition, students also participated in a creative writing workshop, further expanding their artistic expression and skills. Their hard work and talent earned them well-deserved recognition, and we could not be more proud of their accomplishments. Congratulations to Henry and Coral for showcasing their talents and making the Red Raider community proud!
Red Raiders Lead the Way in Climate Action
We were proud to attend Monmouth University’s Climate Change Learning Collaborative Culminating Event, where we had the opportunity to connect with other schools, share our climate-focused initiatives, and highlight the important work happening in our district. A special congratulations to Gia, who was recognized for her leadership and contributions as a member of the student advisory board. We are incredibly proud of her dedication and the impact she continues to make!
Growing Success: KHS Life Skills Students Complete Living Wall
Our KHS Life Skills students have been hard at work bringing a meaningful project to life, and we are excited to share that their Living Wall is now complete! After carefully planting and tending to each element, the final plants have found their new home, creating a vibrant and welcoming space within our school.
This project represents much more than a beautiful display. Through hands-on learning, students have taken on the role of caretakers—developing responsibility as they meet the daily needs of living things, exploring sustainability by understanding how plants enhance our environment, and building teamwork as they worked together toward a shared goal. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and the lasting impact this project will have on our school community.

In addition, AI-powered tools like Gemini and NotebookLM are helping students create study guides, practice skills, and better understand complex topics. With these updates, students have more ways than ever to stay organized, engaged, and successful.

Small Acts of Kindness = Big Health Benefits
Kindness is more than just a positive habit—it has real benefits for your health. Research shows that practicing kindness, gratitude, and support can reduce stress, boost mood, and strengthen relationships (Fryburg, 2021). Chronic stress can negatively impact both physical and mental health, often leading to unhealthy behaviors, while strong social connections help protect overall well-being. Even small acts—like offering help, showing empathy, volunteering, or practicing self-kindness—can calm the body, strengthen the immune system, and improve quality of life. When individuals feel connected and supported, it fosters a healthier, more positive school community for all.
Every Day Counts
Regular school attendance is essential for student success. National data shows that students who miss 10% or more of the school year—about 18 days—are considered chronically absent, and this level of absence is linked to lower academic performance and decreased graduation rates. Research consistently shows that students who attend school regularly are far more likely to succeed in their courses and graduate on time. Even missing just two days a month can quickly add up and disrupt learning. At Keyport High School, we encourage all students to prioritize attendance, arrive on time, and stay actively engaged each day. Every class offers valuable opportunities to learn, collaborate, and grow, and being present ensures students make the most of their high school experience.
