An Update from Jason

Hello All,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful vacation and found rest, fun, great food, and family time. The Gingold/Affolter household was packed with people over break. My sister-in-laws and partners were in town, Josie, Lily, and Phoebe were home, Sully, the puppy, was home, and we played many card games: Quiddler, Perpetual Motion (I highly recommend), and lots of cooking. All in all a quiet break.

I often think about the beginning of a new year and all the times I made a resolution that I did not keep. I've been practicing changing certain habits, eating healthier, or walking to work more often. I always thought about a new way to improve myself each year. For example, wanting to start doing push-ups, I would often start with 50 a day instead of building the skill of one a day and consistency- 50 never lasted long. I think I am learning to be consistent and reflective over time.

As we return together to MHS and have roughly 4 weeks until the end of the semester, what is one goal you have for your class(es)? What do we want to accomplish before the second semester starts?

Our first four months together have brought us many positive events, stories, connections, and outcomes. And we know time speeds up from here on out, with many breaks over the next few months. I look forward to our continued work in faculty meetings on our revised LE's, our continued work with Gio and Laura about equity and inclusion, and our continued connectivity with each other and our students which help make MHS a special place.

Have a great New Year week, and thank you for your time and learning together.

"The information you consume each day is the soil from which your future thoughts are grown."

Sincerely,

Jason
