TUESDAY IS THE LAST DAY TO SEND CANDY!
π A Message from Mrs. Jordanπ
Hello Families,
At Mary H. Wright, we are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students.
It's important to understand that not every disagreement between students is considered bullying. Bullying is behavior that is intentional, repeated, and involves a power imbalance. Disagreements or arguments between students are often examples of peer conflict, which can be resolved through communication and problem-solving.
We encourage students to:
- Be kind and respectful to others.
- Report concerns to a trusted adult.
- Include others and stand up for what is right.
Working together, we can help create a positive school culture for every Bobcat.

β€οΈ Make the Most of Fall Break
As we prepare for Fall Break, we encourage families to take advantage of this time to connect with one another. Children benefit greatly from quality time with the adults who love them.
Simple activities can make lasting memories: π Read a book together
πΆ Take a walk and talk about your day
π² Play a board game
π Share a meal without distractions
π Attend a community event or spend time outdoors
These moments help strengthen relationships, build confidence, and remind our children how important they are. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give our children is simply our time and attention.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We hope your family enjoys a safe and relaxing Fall Break!

π Parent Conferences
Working Together for Student Success
Parent conferences will be taking place this week and next week. These meetings are an important opportunity for families and teachers to discuss student progress, celebrate successes, and create a plan for continued growth. Please plan on meeting with your child's teacher.
During your conference, consider asking:
β
Is my child meeting grade-level expectations?
β
What are my child's strengths?
β
What skills need additional support?
β
How is my child performing in reading and math?
β
How can I support learning at home?
β
How does my child interact socially and behaviorally at school?
β
What goals should we work on before the next conference?
Remember, conferences are a time to partner with your child's teacher. By working together, we can ensure every student has the support they need to succeed.
π‘ A Good Question to Ask
"What is one thing my child is doing well, and what is one thing we can work on together?"
This question helps families leave the conference with both a celebration and a clear next step.
β€οΈ We're on the Same Team
Teachers and parents share the same goal: helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Open communication and a strong partnership make a tremendous difference in a child's success.
Reminder
π Transportation Changes For the safety of all students, all transportation changes must be submitted in writing by note. We are unable to accept transportation changes by phone call. Please send a signed note with your child if there is any change to their usual dismissal plans.
Thank you for your cooperation and partnership. By following this process, we can ensure that concerns are handled efficiently and that we continue working together in the best interest of our students.

Grading Policy at MHW
Report Cards will go home on October 20th. Here is some information about Report Cards and our Grading System.
Report Cards/ Progress Reports
Report cards go home at the end of each 9-week grading period. The district requires teachers to send progress reports every 3 weeks. However, in elementary school, parents will receive some progress reports every 2 weeks or, in many cases, every week. If you do not receive notifications about your child's progress over a lengthy time, please contact the teacher via e-mail, call our office, or contact me at tkjordan@spart7.org, and I will check this for you.
Grading Policy
A record of each child's school progress is sent home following the end of each nine-week grading period. The report should be signed by a parent and returned to school the following day.
In 4K, 5-Kindergarten, and 1st, the following symbols are used:
C- Consistently Demonstrates
S- Satisfactory Progress
N- Needs Improvement
N/A- Not Observed these 9 weeks.
The Grading Scale for 2nd-5th grades:
A= 90-100 B= 80-89 C= 70-79 D= 60-69 F= Below 60
2nd-5th grade Parents can access their childβs grades and attendance at any time through the web-based Parent Portal. To obtain a username and password for the portal, please see Ms. Tate in the office for this information.
The legislature recently passed a new law that states schools can no longer give Grade Floors. What this means is that students will receive the grade that they earn, even if it is a 35.
Teachers will give students 5 days to make up work if they do not turn it in on time.
Section 59-29-250. (A) No public school district or public school may adopt any type of grading system that requires a teacher to assign a minimum grade or score that exceeds the student's actual performance on required assignments. If a school district is found to be in violation of this section, the State Department of Education shall withhold ten percent of the school district's State Aid to Classroom funding.
