Congratulations Class of 2019

Dear Third Grade Class of 2019,

Congratulations!

During the 18-19 school year our district unveiled our Profile of the Graduate for East Hampton learners. You made this come to life at Memorial School.

Due to your preparation and effort you were successful academically and socially and grew into proud, confident Cheetahs. Your teamwork and caring for others was highlighted during your monthly character assemblies and community service projects. Your wonder and imagination were on full display while you developed questions, researched, then presented your Genius Hour projects.

You have been such positive role models in our school and we have no doubt you will further develop into innovative, responsible, contributing members of an ever-changing global society.

We hope you remember your time at Memorial, follow your dreams and find joy in always striving to take care of yourself, take care of others and take care of things during your educational journey through the East Hampton Schools.

With Cheetah Pride,

Mr. Gonzalez and Mrs. Gadoury

2nd Annual Bellringer Walk

We invited graduating seniors from East Hampton High School, back to where it all began at Memorial School. Our future Bellringers lined the halls of our school to congratulate the soon to be graduates as they took a celebratory lap around our halls. Our grade 3 students followed behind the seniors and received cheetah pride praise for their efforts and accomplishments at Memorial. .

PK Graduation

Life is marked by so many benchmarks. One of the cutest is the transition from preschool to kindergarten! Memorial's youngest learners were eager to take the stage to share some songs they've worked hard to master and receive their diplomas! They then enjoyed some snacks & refreshments with their families. #CheetahPride

School Medication Pick Up

Please plan to pick up your child’s medication at the end of the school year. Per district policy, any medication and medication accessory (i.e. spacers, tubing, etc.) that is left in the health office 7 days after the last day of school will be discarded. The only exception to this policy is the Extended School Year (summer school) program. Only students attending ESY may keep their medications in school over the summer. School staff are available in the office and can assist you in retrieving your medications prior to the last day of school. For everyone's safety, medications are not transported by students in backpacks.

Growth Mindset

Students with a growth mindset learn more over the course of a year than otherwise similar students who do not have a growth mindset. The average growth in English Language Arts scores is equivalent to approximately 19 days of learning- almost a calendar month of school.

Mrs. Vining's art students were excited to share the joy of collaborating while beautifying our hallways with rainbow colors! Artists predicted that the collaborative rainbow would reach all the way around the school. After installing this massive rainbow one piece at a time it reached the lobby from both directions, starting at the art room! This teamwork project inspired smiles in every hallway!

Summer Reading

Students in all grades will be discussing summer reading in library class over the coming week. Working with the librarians and reading specialists, students will be asked to create an individual summer reading goal. These goals will be included with progress reports for families to review. The goal setting sheet will also be used to record summer reading data. This year we are tracking number of books read as opposed to minutes read.

We are excited to provide the first book for students to log on their goal sheets! Students will personally select a new book for keeps during their final library classes.

Be sure to join us this summer at the East Hampton Public Library to hear some of our teachers and staff members read their favorite books. The schedule is as follows. We hope to see lots of familiar faces at our Summer Read Aloud Series!

Mrs. Flannery, Mrs. Hill, Mrs. Warner and Mrs. Bauer

Summer Math

Our K-5 students have several options to engage in math practice over the summer. All Center and Memorial students will receive a packet of this information soon. Options include:

1. Our newly designed Summer Math Passport program--As you travel around town this summer visiting a variety of businesses, you can scan a QR code that will lead you to some math problems. Solve them and stamp your passport for that business. How many businesses can you collect? We will be hosting a celebration for any student returning the completed passport when we come back to school.

2. The CT Math Challenge--you can register at https://math-tools.quantiles.com/accounts/login/?next=/summer-math-challenge/dashboard/

3. Continue utilizing the Reflex Math program online (for students leaving grades 2-5).

Please email Sheri Labowski at slabowski@easthamptonct.org with any questions about summer math.

Stop & Shop A+ Rewards

What are A+ School Rewards?

A+ School Rewards are points that supporters earn with each purchase made using their Stop & Shop Card. At the end of each month, the points earned are used in a calculation to determine your school’s cash total, which is then automatically credited to your school’s account. This year, through our community's support, Memorial School received a check for $3,921.05!
