Hi,
Help Our School by Completing the CNEEB Form
Even with Free Breakfast and Lunch for Every SPS Student, all SPS families are encouraged to complete the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit (CNEEB) form.
Why?
It may qualify students for meal benefits and reduced fees.
It helps schools receive funding based on student need.
Complete information helps SPS plan and allocate resources effectively.
Don't think you'll qualify? No problem. The form now includes an option to "Decline Benefits.”. Submitting that response still helps us maintain complete and accurate information.
The best data is data that is complete.
Please take a few minutes to complete the form today. CNEEB
Vaccine Clinic
Our upcoming flu and COVID vaccine clinic on 9/28. I’ve included the registration link below and a few registration details:
- We accept most insurance, but are unable to accept Cigna, Tricare, and some out-of-state Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.
- Each patient needs their own appointment, in the patient’s name, with their individual information.
- A family of four will need four appointments.
- If you cannot register all family members in the same appointment window, register the remaining members in the closest available time window. You may still visit the clinic together at one time.
- Cash rates for the 2026 season are $200 per COVID vaccine and $60 per flu vaccine.
- We are providing the updated 2026-27 Moderna COVID vaccine and Flucelvax trivalent preservative-free flu vaccines.
- Parents and students can get their shots at the same time if you wish. Parents should come and get their student at their appointment time for their shots as we do not get a list of who signed up due to medical confidentiality, so we at the school cannot call students down to get their shots. Older students may be able to know their appointment time and go on their own, but younger students definitely need a parent to be with them.

Open House Presentation
Thank you to those that were able to attend last night's Open House! I have attached the Emerge! curriculum presentation so you can read it more clearly if you wish!

Walk-&-Roll-a-Thon Pledges!
It’s time to start asking grandparents and friends for Walk-&-Roll-a-Thon pledges! In addition to being a fun time for the kids (and volunteers!) this is our first fundraiser of the year and is the main way we are able to start supporting our students this school year. More information about PTA fundraising and how we use the money to help our kids.
We know that not everyone will be able to help us meet our fundraising goals, but every little bit helps! The class that raises the most money gets the coveted “Big Shoe” trophy.
How it works: The kids will be walking/running/rolling around a course on the blacktop, and you can pledge a certain amount per completed lap (you can also add a maximum amount if you’re worried your student is going to sprint the whole time), or you can also donate a flat amount. In the past, kids have completed on average 25 - 30 laps. Pledge sheets and donation fliers will be coming home soon in backpacks.
Where to pledge/donate: There are 3 options:
The Green Lake Walk-&-Roll-a-Thon donation site (this is the easiest, since we can automatically put in the number of laps your student completed)
On Paypal (be sure to include your student’s name and teacher in the notes!)
By Check (payable to “Green Lake Elementary PTA” and can be mailed to the school, or dropped off in the office. We’ll also have envelopes outside the office mailslot if you come by after hours)
Corporate matching! If you work for a company that does donation matching, this event will qualify! Our nonprofit tax ID is 91-1442923
Don’t forget the grandparents! If you have family or friends who you think might want to help, here’s a sample of how you might ask:
“Hey ____! [Child’s name] is participating in their school’s annual walk-and-roll-a-thon on October 2nd and will be completing laps to collect pledges from friends and family. The school is trying to raise money for activity scholarships, classroom and art supplies, library books, and other fun (and necessary) stuff. 100% of the money raised will go to the school. Would you be able to donate? Here’s the link to the donation page: ”

After-School Enrichment Registration Opens Sunday!
Register your student for a fall after-school enrichment class on 6-Crickets this Sunday, September 27 at 7:00pm. Classes start the week of October 12th, and run through December 11th (with the exception of Math Olympiad which continues until March 9th). We still have some scholarships left - email Ms. Schneider if you need one.

1st PTA meeting of the year:
Join us Tuesday, September 29th from 6-8pm in the GLES Cafetorium. We’ll have food and childcare!
6 p.m. : Eat dinner and socialize with other families.
6:30 p.m. : The meeting part!
All are welcome! You do not need to be a member of the PTA to come!
Note: This is not a drop-off event! All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Anyone requiring special accommodations to attend or participate in our PTA meetings should contact the PTA President: ptapresident@greenlakedragons.org
Volunteer for Walk-and-Roll-a-Thon:
Thank you to everyone who’s already signed up to volunteer for our first fundraiser of the year! Our morning crew is looking solid, but we could still use help in the afternoon when our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be out. You don’t have to have a kid in those classes to come help and have a great time!
When: Friday, October 2
Time: 12:30 - 3:15 p.m.
Where: School playground
What: The kids will be walking/running/rolling around a course on the blacktop while we cheer kids on, give high-fives, hand out treats, and support the school while having fun outside!
Sign up here to volunteer at the Walk-and-Roll-a-Thon
Reminder that volunteers must be approved for Tier 1 volunteering with SPS (good for 2 years):
Questions about volunteering or if you’re still approved to volunteer? Email Bev Denny in the front office: brdenny@seattleschools.org
Questions about the Walk-&-Roll-a-Thon? Email the PTA: ptaboard@greenlakedragons.org
Green Lake Costume Swap
Donate your clean, gently used costumes for collection NOW through Friday, October 2.
Students can give to their teacher, or you can drop off in the Front Office.
Please have all pieces bundled together and labeled with approximate size/age.
We will have all the donated costumes arranged by size/age outside the Front Office from Monday, October 5th through the 30
Swing by anytime to browse donations and hopefully find a costume for your little dragon!
Fun way to make community and help the environment!
Questions? Email Jen→ community@greenlakedragons.org
High-school Volunteer Opportunity:
We would love to have some high school volunteers to help with childcare at our PTA General Meetings. The first one is coming up on September 29 from 6 - 8pm. They get free food too!
If you know a highschooler who might be interested they can email ptapresident@greenlakedragons.org or if cold-emailing is a bit too intimidating they can fill out this form and we’ll reach out to them :)
