GoGuardian Parent App is LIVE!

We’re excited to share that GoGuardian Parent access is now live! This tool gives guardians more control over their student’s online activity outside of school hours.

What you can do:

  • View your student’s web activity

  • Block additional websites you don’t want them to access

  • Pause internet access completely for a set time

  • Create a schedule to automatically turn off internet access during certain hours

Important to know:

  • Access is limited to guardians marked with the “has custody” checkmark in PowerSchool. (If you have trouble creating your account, check with your school office to confirm this setting.)

  • Parent controls only apply outside school hours (7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Mon–Fri).

  • You can make restrictions stricter, but you cannot unblock sites already blocked by the district.

👉 Download the app and create your GoGuardian Parent account today (see instructions linked below)!

Need help? Contact your school office first to confirm eligibility, or email helpdesk@wpusd.org for support.

Parent Engagement in WPUSD Parent Engagement in WPUSD

At WPUSD, we believe that raising children truly takes a village—and we are proud to partner with families every step of the way. Our schools offer many opportunities to get involved and stay engaged in your child’s education throughout the year. Whether by volunteering in the classroom, coaching a team, joining parent organizations, or serving on school and district committees, parent involvement helps make our schools stronger and more successful.

This commitment is grounded in WPUSD’s Board Policy and Administrative Regulation on Parent Engagement (BP/AR 6020), which highlight the importance of creating welcoming environments, building meaningful two-way communication, and giving families the tools and opportunities to support student success.

Why Attendance Matters Why Attendance Matters

For Students

  • Learning builds daily – missing class creates gaps that can snowball over time.

  • Achievement grows with consistency – strong attendance is linked to higher grades, test scores, and graduation rates.

  • Belonging matters – being present strengthens friendships, participation, and connection to school.

  • Future readiness – good habits now prepare students for college, work, and life.

For Families

  • Consistency counts – regular attendance helps kids stay on track academically and socially.

  • Early patterns last – chronic absenteeism in elementary years predicts later struggles.

  • Opportunities each day – every school day offers instruction, meals, resources, and experiences that matter.

  • Support systems – teachers can better notice and respond to student needs when children are present.

For Schools & Our Community

  • Stronger classrooms – regular attendance supports instructional flow and builds an engaged, inclusive school culture.

  • Equity & access – fewer absences reduce opportunity gaps and keep all students moving forward together.

  • Resources for all – in California, school funding is tied to Average Daily Attendance (ADA). Even partial-day attendance matters and helps us support every learner.

  • Community impact – reliable attendance builds stronger schools, families, and neighborhoods.

Do You Need Support?

Who is Your Student’s Trusted Adult?
For some students, challenges like depression, stress, or other mental health concerns may impact attendance and learning. Having a trusted adult at school—whether a teacher, counselor, or campus staff member—can make all the difference. We encourage families to reach out to your school administrator or counselor to learn more about counseling supports, Wellness Centers, or resources like The Foundry that help students feel connected and supported.

Who is Your Trusted Adult?
We know that navigating school systems can sometimes feel overwhelming for parents and guardians, too. Whether you’re trying to set up a ParentSquare account, connect to PowerSchool, or explore tutoring options, finding a trusted adult on campus—your site principal, a teacher, or even a campus monitor—can help guide you in the right direction.

Family Supports at The HUB
We also recognize that family circumstances can be complex. The HUB: WPUSD Family Resource Center and out Mini Hubs at First Street and Sheridan are here to help you! These centers provide vital resources for families, including food, clothing, backpacks, transportation assistance, access to washers and dryers, job application guidance, and community connections. Whatever your need, we are here for you. Get all the details here.
