POSITIVE BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION SUPPORT – PBIS
IBES has adopted a PBIS plan. PBIS is a proactive systems approach to preventing and responding to classroom and school discipline problems. This process focuses on improving schools’ positive behavior expectations for all students, not solely the children with behavioral and emotional challenges. Emphasis is directed toward developing and maintaining a safe learning environment where teachers can teach and students can learn.
All teachers will have a classroom plan that assigns consequences for minor behavior infractions. If a student commits a serious offense or repeatedly misbehaves or causes a class disruption, that student will receive an office referral and will be sent directly to the principal.
Our school- wide expectations are:
Indian Bayou Elementary Home of the Indians Where We Are One T.R.I.B.E.
Trustworthy, Respectful, Involved, Brave, Encouraging
If your child’s behavior warrants more than one minor infraction and/or a referral to the office, he/she will be removed from the PBIS Reward list for that 9 weeks. If your child’s behavior warrants more than one minor infraction for the entire school year and/or a major office referral to the office he/she will be removed from the PBIS Reward end-of-year event.
Mrs. Shelanne also rewards Positive Office Referrals. When faculty/staff notice a student being outstanding, showing improvement, helping other, being respectful, etc., they complete a form and turn it into Mrs. Shelanne. These students are recognized during announcements, get their picture taken, and receive a prize from the Principal's Treasure Chest!
Classes may also receive a Golden Feather to add to their class headdress. A golden feather is rewarded to an entire class when they all are following expectations. It is given by any other faculty/staff member besides their own classroom teacher. Once they fill up their headdress with golden feathers, the entire class receives a reward of their choice from a list of options.
Parent Drop Off and Pick-Up
I.B.E.S. arrival time is 7:45 a.m. Student cannot be dropped of before this time unless they are part of our Before School Care/Tutoring with Mrs. Tillie. Those students may be dropped off at 7:00 a.m. at the front entrance. Parent of before school care/tutoring kids will have to walk the student into the building to meet Mrs. Tillie in the gym. I.B.E.S. will dismiss at 3:15 p.m. Parent Pick up CANNOT BEGIN lining up in front of school until 2:45 p.m. Any parent pick arriving before this time will be asked to leave and come back at the appropriate time. This is to assure the safety of all students and faculty on our campus. PLEASE ADHERE TO THIS TIME! THANKS! Once you enter through Driveway #1, pull up to Driveway #3 and STOP.
